Interconnectivity is a good thing

December 18th, 2007 by Chufmoney

Sony has just released new PSP and PS3 firmware. For PS3 owners, this means that you will finally be able to play DivX movies on your system. PSP owners get an even cooler feature though: remote play of PS1 games from any wireless connection. PSP owners can now turn on their PS3 remotely and access any backwards compatible PS1 game. The only problem? PS1 games are hardly on the Sony Store at this point.

I love the idea behind this feature but it is definitely cheapened by Sony’s lack of software selection. I would have preferred that Sony bulk up the Sony Store’s inventory before releasing firmware that is awesome to see, but almost useless at this point.

For Christmas, I wish Sony would give me the ability to rip PS1 games onto my PS3’s hard drive, enabling me to make better use of my new found PS3/PSP love affair.
