Aegies I would recommend using http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/home to ‘burn’ your rss feeds.
Among the fact that it will take lots of load off your server you also get all the statistics and such imaginable.
Also considering you are using wordpress there is a plugin to make it easier http://flagrantdisregard.com/feedburner/ that I would also suggest using.
Also if your serious about getting to the front page of Digg or linked to by major gaming sites you are prolly going to want to upgrade from your shared server on dreamhost to something else that will better suit your needs.
Things like getting a CDN for your podcast and as noted above burning your feed should be a priority. You and you friends are in the spotlight now, dont squander it by being down.
