Site notes

This will be quick, since I’m actually working on another post. More content is incoming. We’re all working on stories right now for the site, and this will become the norm starting this week. I should also start getting back to those who submitted samples by Friday (they’re all finally separated and sorted in my inbox and ready to be gone through en masse, although I’ve read a good number of them already). Feel free to post suggestions or requests for coverage or any other questions in the comments here. I should also have an email address set up for tips, for submissions, and for suggestions/requests later today.

I know this was briefly discussed in another post, but I still think it’d be nice to have a forum here. Just a phpbb or something. The 1UP boards and NeoGAF aren’t enough to contain the Chuf

I can’t believe I just typed that. You’ll have to forgive me, I haven’t slept in a while.

The way that you guys are helping us keep up with all the other former 1Up guys is great. Please keep that up! For new content, you guys should focus on smaller indie games, simply because your site has become so much smaller. Bring it around full circle!

The wait for replies has me on pins and needles! But no matter who you pick, I’m sure you’ll get some good people. I’d definitely like to see you guys focus more on editorials than anything, since reviews are, in general, much more common. High quality editorials with something really interesting to say are hard to come by.

Great, can’t wait. I also think a forum would be a great addition.

  5. Anthony Gornicki says:

Cool, looking forward to it. Forums would be alright but I prefer comments. Comments are topical and it’s a brief discussion that lasts while the article is populer. Some forum threads just don’t die, and are full of trolls and people arguing over minutia. I’m not saying that’s what your fan base is made up of, don’t get me wrong! I just think forums tend to attract that element. I could be full of crap, I just tend to prefer comments, and resources could be better used elsewhere than moderating a forum.

I just wanted to drop by and say good work with bringing the site back to life. I know it’s difficult to take a “dead” website and add all the new stuff that people expect from sites nowadays. Your doing an excellent job though and I look forward to more posts!

  8. Wait, what??
You guys were accepting submissions for some writers? Hot damn, I wish I had known that!

    Hey guys,

Can I start by saying great job on the site so far. It is an impressive amount of work in a short time. Loving it, and will keep visiting.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I wanna give constructive criticism. Looking at Arthur’s Mirrors Edge article, I was confronted by a sheer wall of text and though “Woah, my eyes are already burning – maybe later…”

Even with the good old zoom, i still could not manage it (to be fair, i have been awake 16 hours and staring at a LCD for 14 of those). I got to thinking of an old GFW Radio episode, where Shawn Elliott went on about large chunks of text being hard to read on the internet sometimes. Here’s an example:

    and

So, as I know Arthur loves the CSS (right?), maybe it is something that could be looked into. You guys have worked in the print industry long enough to know how to make the written word look beautiful on paper. Lets see some love for it here – make it easy on my eyes! Please?

This is just my 2 pennies worth, feel free to tell me to STFU and man up my eyeballs (better than eying up my man balls) if you feel like it. Good luck, keep doing what your doing!

So happy you are not yet blocked by OpenDNS at my work! Best gaming site ever.

  11. Kyle says:

I would like to see more cheap/free games reviewed.

  12. Kevin says:

a focus on community would be sweet. what are other gamers doing? guest writers / blogs that get some official attention / recognition. perhaps even appearances by local (or national) players to contribute to the podcast if possible.

  13. Maze says:

Forum forum forum. Would like a forum. It shouldn’t be too hard to set up a fairly simple one (a lot of us are willing to help, you can be sure.)

Also, get some moderators that will come down hard on trolling (no flame wars) and then we’ll have a real good forum
