UPDATE: well, it looks like dark forces are afoot again, and somehow, the Area 5 guys’ story got buried on Digg. This is probably due to new users and lack of comments. So, from here on out, if you want to digg the story, do it elsewhere (hint, hint). I know there are a lot of you (I SEE THE TRAFFIC LOGS, I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE).
What else can I say? The guys from 1up’s Gamevideos have just debuted their new site and production company, Area 5 (named for the last stage of Rez), along with the first episode of Co-Op. This week, it’s their epic Games of 2008 show. So, go over to their site and Digg the story, and subscribe to the youtube feed here. Congratulations guys! can’t wait to see episode 2!

P.S. I just had an incredible idea. Area5, ESG, and Geekbox should combine to form one media group. This would make perfect sense. You have the support of the community and btw, I would totally pay for a subscription for anything you folks put out.

I wonder what payment system they will set up? I hope there will be yearly subscriptions, it’ll be easier to pay it all in one shot. I hope high quality versions will be available in a format I can put on my portable player.
FYI, the burying is nothing to do with the people who have dug it; it’s all to do with the people who have voted to bury it. The way to change it is to have even more people voting on it.
To add more weight to their votes, they need to vote all over the site to dig or bury.

The production quality is right there on par with the 1UP Show.
The only thing I’m hoping is that one day we can download the shows instead of YouTubeing it.

But you really should at least rate the videos on YouTube and subscribe.
Anyway, REALLY glad to see these guys in action again — the quality isn’t quite there with the 1Up Show, but how could it with a lack of proper equipment?
From the situation the guys described as far as the limited tech is concerned, they pulled off a pretty solid episode.
I really liked the splitscreen effect, I’m surprised they didn’t use this before as it really works well, I think.
This is great. I am so happy that the 1up show will continue, though I wonder about some aspects, like if they will get game before they release etc. In any case I’m glad our donations made a difference and have allowed the show to go on.
