Rebel FM — Episode 6 — 02/11/09

Happy Thursday morning! Alternately, thanks for staying up late!

Show description:

This week we’re joined by WhatTheyPlay’s John Davison and MTV Multiplayer’s Patrick Klepek, to give impressions of Halo Wars, Killzone 2, Fallout 3 DLC, and more, discuss the casual/hardcore gamer divide, and answer a few letters in which what is yours is replaced with prizes.

As stated in the show, our intro theme song — which will be replaced with the final version next episode — comes courtesy of a collaboration between SXEZSKOZ and Bilithic. Thanks a million, talented dudes!

I love the fact your show is so real. lol Sirens, Cats, anything it’s brilliant.

Other then that I just purely love the show.

  2. Spirit-of says:

The chat about free MMOs was pretty entertaining, especially when I was actually in the Perfect World Beta, but no one on the show seemed to have ever heard of it. It’s a total rip off of WoW, but still not a terrible MMO overall, it’s free, and I recommended it to more than a few friends with side bar that “It’s free, try it if you’ve always wondered whether WoW is your kind of game or not.” Probably exactly what the developers were hoping would happen. Or at least it seems they’ve hooked a million users with the plan.

  3. MedievalSam says:

Another wicked show guys! I love Anthony’s Civ IV adventures.

  4. samoscratch says:

I need the Backlog podcast! Gimme!

  5. juv3nal says:

As someone ideologically opposed to subscription model mmorpgs and general dismissive (without any significant experiential basis) of the free to play ones, I though this was a great episode. I plan to check out both Wizards 101 and the Shin Megami Online now. Thanks!

  6. juv3nal says:

I did, however, give fusion fall a shot and found it to be pretty lame.

you forgot to include why you were so close to un-subbing.

oh… not enough wii talk? too bad so sad.

    i unsubbed your mom.

  8. Adrian says:

    Great episode, guys!

Really enjoyed the casual vs hardcore discussion. You let the conversation move where it naturally wanted to go, but always brought it back before it went too far off-topic. Big improvement over the FPS discussion last week.

    I think I have a man-crush on John Davison! :P

Chuf Civ segment = pure gold! The more, the merrier!

  9. MaxDense says:

Nick, your last smash is probably the one on a roof across the street from a parking structure in Downtown Paradise. That was my last smash and a pain to find.

  10. Roy D says:

Awesome podcast! I have a question for anthony since he was talking about console RTSs and especially Halo Wars. Have you tried out Endwar yet? I recently got it and it’s VERY interesting. Also Anthony, have you ever played World in Conflict for PC? I think you’ll fall in love with that game.

  11. Spencer says:

Big ups for having “The Unicorns” on the last Rebel Fm (between the casual game discussion and fan mail) Keep up the good work

  12. bunnyhero says:

wow, great podcast again! i’m enjoying this more than 1UP.FM, which is saying a lot! although i do miss the old “shelf life” segment from 1UP.FM :)

  13. Alex says:

Which one of the rebel FM crew is the unicorns fan? Tuff Ghost makes a great interlude song by the way.

  14. bjnets says:
