We will have podcasts for you this week!

Sorry about the lack of a proper Rebel episode last week. In case you missed it, we just couldn’t get our recording act together due to schedule issues that were unavoidable. But, come hell or high water, we’re recording Game Club and Rebel FM this week; Game Club on Tuesday evening, and Rebel FM on Thursday. This is where you guys come in.

Previously we experimented with asking you guys (and girls) what you wanted to hear us talk about/comment on during the podcast, and we really enjoyed how that worked out. So, given that, take this chance to comment here and throw out some ideas for this week. If there’s one super fantastic idea, we’ll do that, or, if there are a lot of great ideas (which is very likely), maybe we’ll do a lightning round of topics for the second segment. If you like an idea that someone else has mentioned, be sure to add your opinion about it in reply. In the meantime, we appreciate your understanding about last week, and I promise that if it ever happens again, SOMEONE will post about it (like they were supposed to last week)!

I would like to hear a Mod section or segment.

Either games that have really fantastic mods
(i.e. Warcraft III’s “Defense of the Ancients”, Battlefield Mods, etc.) older games that might have some kick ass Mods to breathe new life into something we might already have on our harddrive, or upcoming Mods such as Mechwarrior Living Legends for Crysis, or anything else that looks cool.
I think this is an area of videogaming thats not covered in the mainstream press as much as it should be. This way, it would give us something to play without forking out any, or zero, cash as well provide a different experience for the games we already have.

    Just a thought.

uhm i jus wanted to suggest godhand for a future gameclub.pretty please.and i can finally start playing bully on my pc, was missing a decent card, but not anymore hehehe, let us rock that school billy… jimmy?jimbo?..james!damn what the hell?

  3. Brillyance says:

I think it would be dope if you guys would have a conversation around the single-player experience as a whole. Too often now games are focusing on deathmatches when unnecessary (Resident Evil 5, Codemned 2) or making Co-Op a damn near necessity (Resident Evil 5). As a gamer who works full time, and goes to school, I can’t always “meet-up” with my online friends to partake in clan matches, or play through levels of co-op. I often find that my best option is to try and sink some time into a story mode. What are you guys favorite single-player experiences of this generation (there are too many options from all generations). What stories sucked but get all the hype. How long is a decent single player experience (Is 30+ hours of Elder Scrolls too much, is 4-5 hours of Gears not enough?) What makes single-player experiences the most interesting (is it the story, constantly changing game mechanics…or letting you get used to the mechanics and then giving you the opportunity to take full advantage of them). What adjustments would you guys have made to single player experiences you’ve played through to make them better? What games used to give you a good single player experience, but have fallen off track during sequels?

These are all questions of personal opinion, since there are no definitive (sp?) answers to any of these questions.

What is your least favorite console that you owned? Why? And was there anything you liked about it?

  5. theblues says:

Also, this is not a topic for discussion but rather just a question I wanted to ask you guys.

How much time do publishers usually ask you to hold on an NDA? For example, if I know journalists checked out Bioshock 2 last week… when should I expect new media to come out about the game?

I figured it would be normally a week or so, but I wonder if it can be much longer than that.

    • theblues says:

(Note that I’m not asking this because of Bioshock 2 in particular, it’s just the latest example I could think of).

  6. Matt says:

Why has the space flight sim/shooter gone out of style? Isn’t it time for an updated X-Wing?

  7. FatherBrian says:

My fave old school game was Electronic Arts “Racing Destruction Set” for Commodore 64. Yes, I’m quite the old fart now.

Anyway, wouldn’t a remake of this for current gen consoles be the bomb. I’m a huge fan of selecting the gravity for the track you’ve created. It was a simple game that allowed for maximum replay value.

Damn, I really miss that game.

  8. Dan Garofalo says:

Adding to my earlier second question which was post 90, what was your gut reaction when hearing about 6 Days in Fallujiah, and do you think that will have an impact on media’s perception on games if it does succeed in creating a respectful, while truthful environment of the battle.

  9. NightsD says:

I would like you guys to discuss the problem(s) with superhero games(thinking superman). And try to answer both the question of why it is so hard to make a great one and how it could be done.

  10. Royce says:

What’s it like buying your own games? Anthony complained about it a lot after losing his job – something that normal people who’ve been buying our games for years found very annoying. How do you guys go about prioritizing what games you do or don’t buy now that you pay for games yourselves? Do you jump on new hot releases to be part of the discussion? Work through your backlog? Pick and choose a few games that really excite you personally?

  11. Nick Todd says:

What do you guys think of sites like N4G? Are sites like this good for journalists, or do they only propagate the quick information splurge that seems to be the predominant trend in today’s tech-savy, information craving audiences?

  12. Endsville says:

How about talking bout some of your all-time favorite bosses, or how you think bosses should be done? Also, talk about the shit endings we’re being fed. After all these years and exponentially increasing power of consoles, and still games can never give us satisfying endings. Whatever happened to having cheeseburgers with the president?

  13. Joe says:

Ou est le podcast du jour?

This makes me a saaaaad panda.

  14. Mr. Justice says:

YAKUZA and then eventually… YAKUZA II.
