  1. McAesp says:

You guys really have podcasting down pat. Another great show. Well done.

  2. PS3RG says:

Rebel FM is go! love love love the podcast… keep up the excellent work guys!

  3. MG310 says:

Great Tiger is the bane of my existence, and not even Title Defense mode, the regular one, he just murders me over and over.

  4. Chris says:

Aw man… Darkwatch and Stranger’s Wrath? You got me all nostalgic. The original Red Dead game was great, and I’m looking forward to the sequel.

Got Bionic Commando today, and I’m enjoying the swinging, but it is a little weird to get used to. I wish I could be swinging through an open world (that’s what made Web of Shadows worth it for me), but oh, well.

  5. Someone says:

Loving the podcast so far! Keep up the great work as usual! Wish I had something to contribute, haha.

I will say though that the Red Dead Redemption stuff is sounding amazing, first day buy for me for sure. Feels like it’s turning out to be one of my most anticipated games this year so far.

  6. Guest says:

Tyler and his Punchout story were the absolute highlight!

You guys are slowly becoming the best gaming podcast out there, so keep up the good work.

  7. Fragtastic says:

Havn’t listened yet, d/l now. But the previous guy is right, you guys seriously are the best podcast I listen to anyway, and I have a long commute so I listen to a ton. Keep it up guys, u rock big balls. As a last remark, why has Tyler not got his dirtytea twitter feed on the front page yet ????????

  8. Michael says:

The new Thermals album is kick-ass. I love it.

  9. Bruce! Chalupa says:

“Playing through Gun has made me a Western convert.” I’m right there with ya, Tyler. Anthony’s description of Red Dead Redemption was the Viagra for my Red Dead boner. I’m stoked.

Still listening, but one other thought: the way Tyler says “Dude” is enough to convince me that he’s awesome.

  10. Fernog says:

Can you post a link to where you can but the Game Park Whiz thing Anthony was talking about?

  11. Anand says:

You know, about Grin. Their movie-games are way too short. Terminator salvation is about 4 hours and I heard that Wanted was around 5-6 hours… If the game is pure bliss (like mirror’s edge) i don’t mind but those games where average at best..

Just an observation. Quantity over quality is normally not my motto.

By the way: Tyler’s voice makes this show so sexy.

  12. Iceveiled says:

Wyoming is real! I live in Denver and each year for the forth of July I round up some friends and we all carpool up to Cheyenne, Wyoming’s Capitol, and purchase real fireworks. In Colorado they only sell the watered down shit, but in Wyoming where they have no state regulations about fireworks, you can buy the powerful stuff.

So you see Wyoming is real. I’ve been there and have seen it with my own two eyes. In case you’re wondering it’s about a 2 hour drive to Cheyenne from Denver.

    Promiscuous boner!

  13. Bruce! Chalupa says:

By the way, if you’re hunting for a Dreamcast, be cautious about going with ThinkGeek. His claims aren’t jsut speculation: http://consumerist.com/5262073/new-dreamcast-more-like-nightmarecast

    Caveat emptor, bitches.

  14. Andy S says:

Red Dead Redemption music by Crystal Method, Smashing Pumpkins, or NIN ;)

After all, about any action movie trailer these days seems to use one of their songs… Crystal Method even did the Bones TV show theme.

  15. Alan says:

The game Anthony described is Persona 3. Persona 4 also has the dating elements, but there’s not one huge randomized dungeon.

  16. Alan says:

On Red Dead Redemption’s framerate: keep in mind that GTA4, once released, had trouble maintaining 30 FPS, especially on the PS3. I don’t see any reason to cut Rockstar any slack on technical issues.

  17. etfp says:

waaaaait. how’d you mention the wire and gay characters and didn’t mention omar?

  18. Iceveiled says:

Thanks for reading my email on the podcast. My last name is pronounced like ‘weird’ without the d, and is Scottish not German.

    FREEEEEEEEDOM!!!!!!!!!

  19. XaiaX says:

That was me asking about Bionic Commando on PC, I didn’t realize it was a couple months out. I was wondering why I hadn’t seen anything on that.

Yeah, it does seem the anti-piracy measure is becoming “hold off a couple months”. That’s better than “fuck those PC bitches”, though. As long as they don’t screw up the ports.

  20. Alan says:

On the ‘confirmed’ microsoft camera, I’d like to remind everyone of the ultra-super confirmed motion control wand MTV Multiplayer swore would show up last year. Especially this year, considering how blogs seem to take any crackpot twitterer as a credible source.

    • XaiaX says:

Are you insulting my e3 prediction of the magic waggle controller showing up again?

Using no controller sounds like magic to me!

Also, “no controller at all” sounds like a plausible reason for them to dump an obvious wii-mote clone. They can portray themselves as innovating.

  21. Alan says:

On Kotaku, and I’m sure Arthur is mentioning that, but you do realize that part of Kotaku’s mandate is to get people to click on the post? This is why their comments are particularly inflammatory, or why they’ll actually twist the facts to get people to reply to them. They’re NOT a particularly good source for anything but the news releases — and for that you can just go to GAF. You’ll at the very least get slightly less stupid comments.

  22. Alan says:

To Tyler, Kotaku are among the WORST sources for news. For one, there’s no guarantee that you’ll find anything topical — Kotaku queues up stories according to posters, doling them out according to whatever they find fair. Since Gawkers do get paid per post, and getting more on posts with heavy click-throughs, and since everyone there wants to make a living. It’s not uncommon for joystiq to post stories with a day, or half a day difference from Kotaku, while both have been on the frontpage of GAF for a full day.

  23. Phish says:

I am calling it now, Red Dead Redemption soundtrack done by RZA, although he usually works more with asian themed samurai-style music.

  24. Iceveiled says:

New Alestorm alubum out in early june! WOO HOO!!

  25. CrossXhunteR says:

Arthur, what was the only anime you have liked. It was mentioned but never named.

  26. SJS says:

Great podcast. Rebel FM is the one I always listen to first when I get home.

Just a little side note: I was in a WoW guild before (server:illidan) directly named after the band Murder by Death. Then that guild merged with another raiding guild. Then that merged with another. Then I left. Whatever, just figured I point that out.

  27. theDude says:

The Daily Show and Colbert are news? You’ve got to be kidding me. I suppose if you like 100% liberal people to tell you what you should think, and put to comedy, then it’s fucking awesome! If you want something that has some balance and more than a radically left wing perspective, then you’ll have to look elsewhere. Unreal, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard all year.

Anyway, as much as I complain on here, I really do love the podcast.

    • Chris says:

Those shows are more news than most of what any other channel puts out. And maybe if you actually payed attention to them, you’d realize that both sides get made fun of. As long as someone doing dumb shit, they’ll make fun of it, liberal or conservative.

    • XaiaX says:

Many a truth is told in jest.

It sheds the polite bullshit you get from mainstream news, when open criticism and taboo topics are discussed with a wink and a smile. It’s not that they are “news”, it’s that they dare to say things that the news people don’t, but should.

The 4th estate is a whore, selling itself to those it is meant to defend us from.

      • Rossco says:

I agree the Daily Show and Colbert only report the news that either promotes their political views or tears down the ones they don’t like. Saying they are “real” news is ridiculous. If you combine the coverage of the big 3 cable outlets including their bias you come close to a “real” news outlet. You just need to filter out the bullshit stories.

PS. Fuck Jon Stewart Leibowitz for getting rid of the his real last name. I guess being Jewish was embarassing. I wouldn’t be ashamed with any name my parents gave me. And yes before you ask that includes the crazies in NY who named their kid Adolph Hitler.

    • theblues says:

It’s news, my friend. You may not like their delivery or agree with their bias, but that doesn’t change anything.

You completely missed the excelent point Tyler was making, so I suggest getting over your hate for those two shows and trying again.

  28. torajix says:

Listening to the show, just wanted to say I’ll be up to play horde with you guys. I’m westcoast and am online almost everynight 8pm-1/2am. Let me know if you need a gears 2 party member.

  29. Rossco says:

Every map on Gears of War 2 (shipped and DLC) are both competitive and horde maps with no differences between them.

Oh and props to the Terminator theme Tyler and Anthony that was hillarious.

Also always playing horde. If you ever need anyone that is.

  30. malcontent says:

Any chance Jade Empire will be the next gameclub? GoGamer has it for $8 right now.

  31. Jake McKenzie says:

    SPREAD THE WORD!!!

  32. Adam L. says:

Just for the record, I love “Now We Can See”. It’s been one of my favorite songs ever since I stumbled upon it. Love the show guys. Keep it up.

  33. Tyler's Tickled Balls says:

The movie with Clint Eastwood and the metal plate is Back To The Future 3, duh.

  34. Anand says:

    More talk about THE WIRE!!!

Seriously, it’s the best show ever. I find it strange that none of you guys mentioned Omar. He’s a legend! And that scar is real!! He fought a tiger.. No just kiddin’, but it sure looks that way..

And that Movie with Clint wearing the metal plate was A Fistful Of Dollars…

  35. CodyH says:

    Great show guys.

Every week there has been great music.

But we need some Clutch going on.

  36. David B says:

Thanks for reading my comment, guys! For real, when I read the show description I thought, oh crap they are gonna read my comment. And you did. So yay. I can totally see your point that scores are a great jumping off point (and hell, I’m guilty as fuck as looking at metacritic when deciding what game to buy). I just wish that they were less of an arbitrary assignment, that’s all.

  37. Shauna says:

Great show as usual! How about you guys talk about Wyoming’s much cooler sister state to the east…Nebraska!

  38. Feanor says:

The guys were right about how bad the PC port of Resident Evil 4 was, but Capcom have done a total 180 on their PC stuff.

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/03/04/capcom-on-digital-distribution-pc-ubiquity/

Assuming you had a 360 pad like I did, Devil May Cry 4 for the PC was significantly better than the console versions running at solid 60 fps even on a modest PC like mine (E6420 @2.13 GHz, 320 MB 8800 GTS). It also added a great new Legendary Dark Knight mode which used the PC’s extra power to have crazy amount of enemies on screen at once:

  39. Hooberschmit says:

Damn, rotten tomatoes…. I thought Angels and Demons was way better that Davinci Code. (movies)

  40. iampickle says:

geekbox is raw this week…….geekbox gives aids.

  41. Alex says:

Maaaaad props for the Thermals song. I like the new CD quite a bit. Fuckin A is still their best though ;)

  42. Graeme S says:

Sweet show! Although, one correction, they don’t shoot themselves in the head in Persona 4; that was a Persona 3 thing.

  43. On the whole “real news” thing, Skynews is really the best news source I’ve found.

  44. Chris says:

In response to the ease of achievements in King Kong: There was one achievement, worth 1000 points, for beating the game. I haven’t played it (the whole movie game stigmata), but if you want an easy 1000 points, there you go.

  45. Matthew Miller says:

U guys think about it!!!!!!! Gears 2 has maps that suck!! Who the hell puts maps out a month later after the game comes out… huh “Gears Of War” they just want your money…
Keep up the good work and tell me what you are eating…

  46. misclet says:

about that animal collective question and hipsters, do you think there is a hipster video game and what would make it so? also i was told from a friend that just gave area5′s co-op a passing glance that its just a bunch of hipsters talking about video games, can there really be video game hipsters or is this social standing just bullhonky? there is no winning in the world of hipsters. only irony. and pabst.

    • Bruce! Chalupa says:

Anything is possible. I’m sure video game hipsters exist. If you can argue that video games are art, and art draws opinionated, snobby hipsters, then there are snobby gamers. It’s only recently that they’ve become growingly concerned with a chic appearance, which would begin to define a hipster.
Think of Jack Black in High Fidelity, but working in a game store. I’ve met that dude on several occasions (the snob, not JB), so I’m sure the next step in evolution is out there.

  47. Panu says:

Can we have timestamps for the next show like Garnett did with the latest Listen Up (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=362550)?

  48. Nixium says:

I know your guy’s pain with trying to get 5 people to play Horde with. Gears 2 is actually a ton of fun and it seems my friends don’t seem to get that besides 2 of them.

So normally we have 3 guys running horde and it gets difficult once you get into the upper teens of rounds.

We normally play on the weekends, email me if you want to join us!

  49. Darth Nader says:

Tyler, you might want to try the Penumbra series to try adventure games that are a bit different than the norm (Call of Cthulhu is the closest example). I was never a big adventure game player myself, but these games really surprised me. They use an item manipulation system akin to using a wiimote, except with a mouse. Maybe worth trying the demos if you still want to check out adventure games.

  50. Benjamin I. says:

In regard to Tyler’s mention of Home Movies, the character you mentioned was Coach McGuirk, and he does have that weirdo, beaten by life feel.

That show was awesome. The creator is also responsible for Metalocalypse.

  51. Lepreconqueror says:

Just a random question: would an Elder Scrolls game (or low-tech low-res offshoot thereof) ever work on the Wii? Obviously, this would be a blight upon TES’ good name, but wouldn’t the wiimote with motion+ be a good way to draw a bow, slash with a blade, and cast spells, not to mention pick locks or pockets?

    • Feanor says:

Morrowind kind of worked on the Xbox.

    • glennhoek says:

meh, I’ve all but given up on there being a Wii game that effectively uses the wiimote as a melee weapon, and apparently so have developers. With the motion plus it should be more viable, but I’m not sure now that a game like that would even be any fun for long. Maybe Bushido Blade 3 would be pretty cool though… just hoping and dreaming.

  52. Tommy says:

I saw an image on fukung.net about wyoming not existing and that it is a lie perpetuated by leperchauns. Quite funny.

  53. Chris says:

I was listening to the podcast again and after listening to the brief comment about Force Unleashed’s cloth, I may have some disappointing news. While Euphoria is considered to be part of the physics engine, it deals with the creation of real-time, on-the-fly animation for AI entities in a game. It lets you put an AI character into a physical situation and have it react without pre-programming a bunch of responses. The cloth physics would have been handled by the other parts of the engine: Havok and Digital Molecular Motion. I haven’t been able to find anything about RAGE’s physics other than the Euphoria integration, but unless it incorporates the Havok/DMM engines, your outlaw poncho might not look as cool as you want it to.

  54. phil says:

thanks for turning me on to The Thermals, they are bad ass. just another reason I love your podcast.

  55. ZombieArmy says:

Hmm… did you guys just call Rockstars next GTA4 DLC? While Gay Tony isn’t the lead for this DLC, it seems like he’ll be a major focus.

    Eerie…

  56. ConservativeGamer says:

What kind of a leftard makes fun of Fox News and then declares they get their news from the Daily Show and the Colbert Report?

    • #8FBC8F says:

Maybe someone who realizes that a media outlet displaying an obvious bias might actually be more responsible than one who hides a bias, pretending to be “fair and balanced.”

  57. CripsanBludz says:

CHUFMONEY SPOTTED IN THE WILD! HAD A PAPARAZZI ON SITE TO TAKE THE SHOT!

    http://threepanelsoul.com/images/rants/nabeshinresiz.jpg

    keep pimping chuf

  58. You guys are awesome, but you have got to cover Infamous in your next podcast. It is what The Force Unleashed could have and should have been.

  59. Jim says:

To Tyler’s talk about Daily Show(1996) and Colbert Report(2005). This Hour Has 22 Minutes (1993) did it first and better, same with Royal Canadian Air Farce (1970 to 2008). (although it recently ended in Janurary) Also the Rick Mercer Report (2004) did it before Colbert.

That and you would see CBC news anchor’s (as special guests) on occasionally taking the satirical slant on the news as well as seeing actual top politicians (all of the past 3 prime ministers [that includes the current being Stephen Harper] have appeared on each of those being able to poke fun at themselves while still talking about their plans for bettering Canada)

Just saying it’s not that uncommon a pratice in news at least not here in Canada.

Sorry this sounds kind of douchey.
