Rebel FM E3 Christmas Special

It’s a very special Rebel FM Christmas! Ok, so it’s not really Christmas, but it’s still a special show. Arthur, Anthony and Tyler got together at a San Francisco Ihop to discuss (most) of the happenings of E3. Covering everything from the floor, to the press conferences, to Tyler’s flight mishaps, the crew gets pretty deep as they chow down on some of the unhealthiest food imaginable. Stay tuned for another podcast later this week where they get deep into discussion about the various new interfaces that debuted at E3.

Yay – thanks guys, can’t wait to listen – missed all of you last week

  2. Jay DV says:

This reminds me of Sore Thumbs/Bitmob’s Dennycast from a while ago. Nothing like unhealthy food and podcasting.

  3. Tom Cocker says:

    Merry Christmas! … yh…

  4. Blommen says:

    Thanks guys, much appreciated!

  5. Nick says:

I loved the ambient noise in this one. It was fun to imagine this being recorded. What kind of set up was it?

  6. thevamp says:

    finally! cant wait to listen

  7. Myckel Soto says:

Arthur Is really fucking polite. That really should not surprise me.

  8. I can’t really imagine the looks on the waiters faces.

    Did you get pictures?

  9. Matt says:

Good like always. I hope all the food was tasty!

  10. Chris says:

Oh, man, all those people who hate to hear you eating during recording are gonna hate this…

  11. Nazz says:

The Old Republic takes place 300 after KOTOR 1 and 2

  12. Pazy says:

Should do more podcasts like this, it was interesting to hear the hustle and bustle of a busy resteraunt behind you.

    • Mondo Jay says:

      Agreed.
The background noise definitely made this feel like we’re in on a private conversation…
      which was really fun.
      Great E3 Christmas Special guys!

  13. Joel from Canada says:

    How nice of you guys.

Sunday was my birthday and you got me a gift of a new podcast. I’m sure it’ll fit and look good on me, but i’m going to wait till i’m home to try it on…hope that’s OK.

  14. Tobizzle says:

Looking forward to listening to this… feels like a long time since I’ve had my RebelFM fix. Thanks guys.

  15. CodyH says:

I rarely get a waiter who is that awesome.

  16. Iceveiled says:

Cool podcast, loved the background chatter and clinking of glasses. It made me hungry.

  17. FelixMaximus says:

Great podcast, enjoyed the lively atmosphere.

One thing that I’d like to know more about is that the new AI director in L4D2 and its capability to change the level as you’re going through it. I think I heard one of you say that, and it made me wonder how exactly it was going to work. Would the maps have multiple branching paths where the director could, say, make a gas line explode and thus block off a path? Sounds like fun.

    Bawls.

    • Chris says:

From what I’ve heard there are areas or pieces of the level that are modular and can be swapped out or randomly arranged. Should be pretty awesome.

  18. Bruce! Chalupa says:

Thanks guys. Excellent IHOPcast! I’m siding with Tyler on the Evil Controller: I call bullshit.

Fat chorizo and eggs (with cold coffee).

  19. Anand says:

I’m looking forward to your thoughts on all the new peripherals.

Microsoft had the most interesting peripheral and i wonder if it will be possible to do a combination of controller + Natalcamera.

    • Anand says:

Oh and great podcast guys. I loved how the waiter was interrupting your talk and Arthur sounded all annoyed ;-) Or maybe he was just tired..

  20. Greg says:

Now I feel like you’re going out of your way to eat during podcasts. I agree that the ambient background noise adds a certain something, but I really can’t stand hearing lips smacking, and munching, and talking with mouths full during podcasts. It’s not just this podcast, either. It’s like people specifically wait for recording to eat.

  21. Ian L. says:

I agree with the majority, I enjoyed the ambiance. Seems like a lot of podcasts are doing a “raw” thing lately that I really enjoy, planned or not.

Keep up the great work guys! It was worth the wait.

  22. jake says:

YEAH!! keep doing public podcasts.. can you rig a mobile pod-casting unit up.. and go.. like.. jogging? haha.. seriously though… i loved it.

  23. Patrick says:

This was a pretty cool departure then the normal setup. I dug it. Maybe some other impromptu locales in the near future. IHOP is pretty Rebel, especially west coasts ones! Dare I say, “Ole!”

  24. Fragtastic says:

A question for Anthony or any one here, what was the name of the game that Anthony raved on a bout where you put the words into the game ? It sounds like a sister game to Crayon Delux to me, and that was awsume on PC. Any help would be hugely appreciated as I’m too fucking lazy to go back on the podcast and find the moment Anthony mentions the game.

  25. Fragtastic says:

oh and btw – some cock sucking here – fantastic podcast as usual guys.

  26. Sam L says:

Robert Patrick (T-1000) was in Fire in the Sky!

Sorry if it’s already been pointed out.

  27. Valavien says:

I am looking forward to listening. I wonder if I should start my drinking game on this episode for whenever I hear the word arbitrary. Not that I am complaining, I managed it a few times lately myself. Hurray for extending vocabulary!

  28. qrter says:

    Fragtastic – it’s called Scribblenauts.

  29. SpinnerXOXO says:

    NOOOOOO!

Tyler was just about to talk about Battlefield : Bad Company 2 and you guys cut him off!

Oh man, all we Battlefield fans got out of E3 are the 3 minutes of gameplay montage out of the IGN interview, and that shit is grainy as fuck, though it still managed to get my hyped more, than anything else, that came out of E3.

Probably because the first Bad Company is an amazing and extremly underrated online multiplayer game. A game I played for a good 400h sice its release. In my eyes, and many other, it is the best of the best online games to date, especially for consoles.

Bad Company 2 shapes up to be out of this world! Oh man – it must suck to see how far ahead of the game DICE actually is with its proprietary Frostbite engine.

The competition gets a lot more coverage. Suspiciously so! It must be a global conspiracy to keep down the irrefutable awesomeness of Bad Company 2, otherwise its pure greatness might have blown apart all other games into pink mist! BOOOM!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_y5inalVHM

Just watch it. If you are anything like me, no other game comes close to this. This will be the DEFINITIVE online multiplayer FPS of 2010 and beyond. Yes – I am viraly enthused and I spread it around like a fever!

    And so should you!

  30. SpinnerXOXO says:

btw. really liked the ‘diner’ format. Great ambiance. Thanks for sharing!

  31. Joey says:

Fuck yea IHOP. I would go more if the ones in SF weren’t so freaking hard to get to/park at. That game Anthony was talking about was Scribblenauts.

Good show guys. I’m glad you veered away from FPSs. The God of War and Scribblenauts talk was fascinating.

  32. Jon says:

I may be hearing things, but did Arthur mention that he was a guest on a podcast related to the Giant Bomb E3 shows? Didn’t come across him in my listenings to their converage. . .

  33. 9th Sage says:

I know you guys aren’t really Nintendo centric, but I was suprised you didn’t mention their conference. I was curious to hear what you thought of some of the games announced.

  34. Peter Lount says:

Splinter Cell’s design and interface has more to do with the talents from Québec Canada than Europe (even if the headquarters of Ubisoft is in France).

Vive le Québec libre, astie de tabarnack!

  35. Arrested Developer says:

I think we should call Mass Effect 2′s new ability to have conversations on the move the “Aaron Sorkin patch”.

  36. Artie says:

You guys have no form or structure anymore. It’s like you want to be forgotten in time. You don’t even release podcasts on the same day every week.

    Unsubscribed.

  37. Anthony says:

    Artie,

We do have a form to the show, this was a special episode, as the title said. And as far as not being able to release on the same day every week, we have real jobs that often get in the way of that, so cut us some slack…or stop listening, that’s also ok with me.

  38. Jason M says:

Reminds me of the fanboys lunchcast alot actually – not trying to plug them but that’s what this episode seemed like.

…mind you, that is a really good thing.

  39. Valavien says:

It was great, it makes me feel like I am with some friends talking about games. It’s nice to have the variety.

I do have to stop listening while hungry though – the food just ‘sounds’ so good

    num num num

  40. Count Daddy II says:

Great pudcast guys. Was listening to it on the train home and getting really hungry – steak and mozarella was it? I was eating my fist with the hunger pangs! And some git was eating a Big Mac in my carriage which was only serving to further confuse and anger my stomach.

On an another note, have you thought about just doing a podcast of the various farts you frequently let rip? I feel these are are an integral part of the show but often they can be the forgotten voice as us listeners can’t always quite make out what they are saying. As my old grandmother used to say: “Let your bowels speak, and your followers shall be happy!”

    Keep up the good work.
