Let’s get this out of the way: it’s a short show this week, and the sound quality is not great. Rather than skip a week due to some tomfoolery and shenanigans, Tyler, Anthony and I (Arthur) decided to sack up and record another of our diner-table podcasts. It’s a long round of what we’ve been playing where we talk about the Uncharted 2 beta, Point Lookout, the new Fallout 3 DLC, and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, and then it’s on to a few letters. This is NOT episode 23, so you’ve still got a couple of weeks to get in those theme song entries kiddos. Slim vaginas to you and yours.
This week’s music, in order of appearance:

Thanks!
I, for one, enjoy the background noise in the podcasts (at the house, too) It makes everything feel more grounded and less sterile than a studio recording. I’ll take random ambience over distorted ass doubly compressed Skype to MP3 artifacts.
Rant: Listen, other damn podcasts, the psychoacoustic model for a pure speech codec like Skype produces completely and utterly different waveforms than a transform coder like MP3. When you put them together, the results are SHITE. /Rant

“Mongoloid” is an old term for east asians, i.e., Mongols. The term gets applied to “retards” probably because of the epicanthic fold, a feature associated with Down’s syndrome.
That is indeed why they are called “Mongoloids.” I wouldn’t exactly use that term to describe the swampfolk, though.
“Mongoloid” is a racial term; one of the three human races, along with “Caucasoid” and “Negroid.”
Originally, yes, but as pointed out, the slightly Asian-looking traits that those with Down’s syndrome possess caused it to be more commonly used to refer to those who are mentally handicapped. And, really, none of those terms are common anymore because there are much more diverse ethnic backgrounds than those three.
Ethnic backgrounds and racial characteristics are not the same thing. Of course, there are more than three races, and they all have scientific terms – like Polynesian.
If there are more modern scientific terms than Negroid, Caucasoid and Mongoloid I’d genuinely be interested in finding out what they are.
First you say that there’s a distinct difference between “race” and “ethnicity,” then you use them interchangeably in your argument. Aside from that, the “-oid” classification is not race-based, but more based on the shape of the skull, as a quick trip to Wikipedia will show you (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasoid,_Negroid,_Mongoloid,_Australoid,_Capoid). It also shows that there are five major classifications, not three.
So we agree that Mongoloid is the correct term for describing most people residing in East Asia?
had 2 wait till 12 at nite but at least i got it,new rebel, sweet makes the whole night worth it
Anthony is referring to the X-Files episode titled “Home,” from season 4. One of my favorite episodes, and one of the most disturbing. I didn’t see it when it first aired, but in either 2000 or 2001, Fox had a late-night showing on Halloween. Fuckin’ creepy.
I had to watch it in biology in the ninth grade about five years ago.
Wow, how were they able to get away with that?
Slim vaginas??? That was unnecessary…
I think you will find that it is the opposite to Fat Penises – no offence taken there either.
Well, you really only need one or the other. Putting the two together creates more problems than it solves.
Really, of the two, “slim vagina” (“well toned” would be better) is the better overall option. The problem with “Fat Penis” is difficulties with oral sex, a complication not experienced with “slim vagina”.
However, that’s still a bit heteronormative.
But, “Pleasant Genitalia” is kind of a milquetoast (yet still disturbing) replacement…
Haha, that’s funny. They thought Tyler was so young…
Great show guys, keep it up!
hahaha
that was meant for the comment below
Thanks for the effort. Jolly good show chaps.
Athletic vulva.
Hey guys, wanna hook me up with a uncharted 2 code?
And sound quality was great, even with the background noise.
Agreed. I like the dinercasts and they should happen on a semi-regular basis.
The chips sounded really crispy and it made me hungry.
The beta ends on June 28th if I’m not mistaken, and each code can be used once. Tough break.
I’d just like to say that the sound of people eating made this episode un-listenable for me which saddens me because I love the show so much. I find the sound of other people chewing to be the most disgusting sound in the word and had to stop listening only a handful of minutes in.
I really wish you guys would curb the eating on air.
Personally for me, I thought this episode was forgettable at best. And I love you guys but this episode just kinda limped along, not your best work guys.
I started listening to this while starving, waiting for food to arrive. Hearing Anthony eat chips is like torture. Where the fuck is my food!?
Hello. Let me first say I have never shit my pants, but tonite I write to you from the toilet seat. My pants are literally around my ankles at this point. I love your show. I don’t care if you don’t like praise, dudes, your show is awesomes. I only began to listen to podcasts around a month or so before 1UP began to lay folk off, afterwhich I followed you guys and subscribed to Rebel FM, CO-OP & Geekbox. It was very nice to see you on the most recent CO-OP show, especially as it was the first time I have seen Tyler. Tyler, you inspire me. When you first appeared on the show, you were somewhat shy. Maybe it’s just me but I like how you have become more comfortable on the show since your debut. MISTER SELECTA! BRING THA BEET!
That’s about all I’ve got to say right now, as I’ve not listened to the latest episode yet and cannot comment on it’s possible awesomeness. I’m also pretty drunk, on a toilet seat and my buddy sits in the other room calling me to come back and take my turn on FIFA 09′s Be A Pro mode, but fuck that I am too busy pouring my heart out to you guys.
You rule.
Fat Penis FTW.
I couldnt stand the chipseating Anthony either, i can’t stand the sound of people chewing food.I love this podcast but i couldnt listen to this sorry..
Anthony, you eat too loud!
Good thing you guys talked about Battlefield Bad company. I personally love that game. In multiplayer, even if you’re losing, it’s still cool to destroy a building just for the fun.
I don’t mind the background noise at all, but the sound quality is shit. And eating while people are suppose to listen to you is never a good idea.
Stop bitching, guys. Seriously. You should feel lucky you have something to listen to at all.
It’s not like these guys are getting paid to do this [they stopped taking donations and afaik there's been no ads] and after reading Arthur’s tweets last thursday night it sounded like a struggle just to even get a show together.
I enjoyed it. If you didn’t, that’s cool, don’t bitch though. I was able to get past Anthony munching on chips to hear some good discussions.
I don’t mind the background noise at all. As a matter of fact, I kind of miss the old background noise of cats fighting and knocking over stuff from the older podcast.
I love the show but hearing people scrape their forks on thier plates and eating chips was hard to digest. I’m glad you did the show but eating and doing a podcast doesn’t seem to work well in my opinion.
I’ve been playing the uncharted mult. player beta and i’m a little surprised at how much i like it. I was wondering what your take was on this if you have put any time on it.
Hm. I’d also rather have non-eating podcasts but if there has to be eating, maybe think about not choosing the obviously noisiest of foods, like crisps..
Thanks for the podcasts, guys.
It bothered me in the E3 one too but now they are doing it again. They keep swearing in restaurants. I have no problem with the swearing when they are in their house. This just isn’t classy.
ppl fucking swear all the time in restaurants, why hold the Rebel FM crew to some higher than though standard ?
What century are you from? As long as people keep swearing to their own conversations and it doesn’t extend loudly to the general public (like the waitress, or the people sitting next to them), then what’s the prob?
WORD UP, diner-table podcasts!
Nice
I don’t give a rodent’s behind about eating noises or swearing at restaurants(or any other place that is), it just doesn’t bother me at all. Keep up the good work.
I love the Rebel FM on the road podcasts. Keeps it real.
love the podcast guys. just noticed something, will.i.am of black eyed peas must be a listener or a leprechaun hater. check out the lyrics to boom boom pow and you’ll notice the line “Beats soo big i’m stepping on leprechauns” also i hav a problem with completing games on my stack of games to finish are crackdown gta4 bioshock and mass effect amongst others do either of you have the same problem?
another great show…
gotta werk on my theme song and get it in quick!
thank you for playing pj harvey as yer closing song, she is awesome.
note to self: must spread the knowledge of fat penis..
I didnt think I would but I really enjoyed this show. I felt like I was sitting right there with you shooting the sh*t over a huge burrito. Great show.
I like the on the road podcasts, but please don’t ever go to another mexican restaurant. Listen to you guys crunch on those chips while talking sounded very uncooth. Fix the audio a little bit too.
I’m echoing the anti-restaurant sentiment here. I love the show and don’t really mind the sound of eating when you guys are in the apartment (which is weird because I literally HATE the sound of eating when I’m around people). Although you’re also not usually eating loud foods.
I think it’s because in the apartment you have a lot more control over the sound in general. This episode was hard to listen to mostly because Anthony’s voice was the only one that I could hear clearly. I’m not sure if it’s because his was the right pitch to stand out (I too have a deep voice so my sympathies to Arthur) or if the microphone was positioned just right for him.
I appreciate it not being at iHop, and that you guys are basically putting this show on with the goodness of your hearts, but seriously, please stick within the confines of the apartment when recording.
I love you guys, but I that shit was turned off as soon as the first chip was bitten.
It’s fine if you’re going to do that, just put it in the notes so I know not to download it :p
Well i give up i can not listen anymore! The reason Anothny your usage of the word “like” every 5 seconds is just sad and purile and very very irritating. If you wrote like that you would never get a job as a journalist ever! How you manage to stay in podcasting land is an amazment to me. The final straw was episode 23 3:07 “your mic is totaly like not vertical like ours like …” then repeat the word like for the next two hours. If its a speach impediment then i am sorry. But like you should like get it like sorted like.
