I loved Earth Defense Force, but yeah, it had a lot of problems. Pointless story, no online element, and a shitty achievement set, but it was so fun to play. All the bad stuff just made it seem like a B-movie, and my friends and I would just make fun of it while playing, MST3K-style. The thing that sticks in my head after all this time: an unknown, alien race comes to Earth, hasn’t done anything yet, and someone decides to call them the “Devastators.” It’s not until a few levels in that they are found out to be attacking, and suddenly the name is quite appropriate.
Almost forgot my favorite part: killing one of the ridiculously giant robots and watching the entire screen just fill with clouds of fire as the camera shakes epileptically.
There better not be any Leprechaun abuse.

If you’d like to get some people together for a Game Night, it might work better if you post a date beforehand on your site and RSS. Even the morning before would be nice. We tried to do this on the gamerswithjobs.com site and got about 5 people for a GTA IV night. It might have even been the same day.

Every time the podcast gets to the 6 min mark, it automatically restarts. It only plays if I manually fast forward past the 6 min mark to 7:40 or so.
i think the next game club game should be dead space so tyler will not have an excuse to play the best game of the last holiday season.

yea, my girlfriend is always telling me to chill with poop, cock, and fart jokes too. What makes it harder is Anthony and Arthur just happened to have the same affinity of for cock jokes as I do.

In my experience, the people who make such jokes are usually the kind of people who will make an even bigger effort to make the jokes when they know that it makes somebody uncomfortable. I know that’s what I’d do. No one is making you listen to them. Also, cocks.

Now an inordinate amount time is spent regurgitating Dane Cook routines and discussing the best way to show your balls to people. Philip Kollar and Nick Suttner are probably rolling in their graves.
It annoys me to no end when critics of the show whine about the donation-situation, but I do think it’s worth considering whether or not this sort of material that people really mandated.

Oh wait, no….I guess not. I’m tongue-in-cheek criticizing the way things have gone recently, but there is still something to it. I’ve been mostly happy with RebelFM, but annoyed with the turn things have taken where every conversational lull gets filled with fratboy jerkoff humor. If they want to continue in this direction it’s completely their right, but I thought it was worth mentioning my mild discontent before I replace their feed with GiantBombcast or Gamers With Jobs or one of the other shows out there that I don’t have time for but might like to hear.
You should make time for the Bombcast, it’s awesome.
They seem to have cut down on the insane beverage tasting lately, though. I still laugh when I think of the swedish candy episode where there were just 5 minutes of screaming and anguish due to saccharine derived masochism.

You’re talking about all these things as if you’re being forced to listen to it against your will. That was my point. All it asks of you is some time, and you’re whining about it as if you’re being strapped to a table with it blaring in your ears, and then being charged fifty bucks for the experience. They didn’t advertise it as “The All-new No Dick Jokes Hour!” and then spend the whole time talking about penises. You had plenty of warning from all the other episodes that this sense of humor was in play. Quit. Your. Bitching.
Saying that this was intended to be the spiritual successor to 1upFM isn’t completely true. While Phil and Nick did jump into this because they wanted to keep podcasting, it was, from the start, a different beast altogether.
That being said sometimes we get a little off topic and people mostly seem to like it (this episode was an exception in that we went off topic for a LOT longer than normal). Quite often we still discuss games all kinds of smart-like, but hey, I’m doing this for fun and I have fun making jokes with Tyler and Arthur, so we’re making a show that we hope you enjoy, but also one we enjoy making.
That’s fine, if there’s weird hiccups like this. This week’s episode was really the only one that felt strangely “off” so far. The comments thread seemed to be completely awash with praise and enthusiasm for dick-jokes, and I thought it was worth mentioning that there’s some of us out here that would prefer something a little more substantive. There’s a proper balance, and things just tilted the wrong way this time. I’m optimistic that Arthur will be conscious enough to keep things in check in the future. He seems to be the guiding influence at the moment, and his vigilance is appreciated.
For what its worth Anthony/Arthur/Tyler – I thought the show was fucking hilarious. (as a by the by I am 42, love gaming, have a 6 and 4 yr old child and run my own business so I’m no drop kick from high school)I see this thread of complaint on other podcast I subscribe to. My attitude is to a podcast, just like to a radio station, if you don’t like it tune out, un-subscribe. Stop fucking whinging and find another podcast if this is not to your tast. Arthur/Anthony and Tyler put their free time into eat.sleep.game because they want to any they enjoy the community and they love the subject matter. FFS if you dont like the format, move along—nothing to hear here !!!!

I somewhat agree with Twentyhundred. I usually think the off-topicness is funny and I can tell that you guys are having a good time, and that’s important to not get burned out. However this week felt more off topic than normal. I still really enjoyed it, though, so I’m not gonna say you should change (you wouldn’t even if I did). I’m willing to overlook some sillyness to get to the juicy awesomeness in these podcasts.

I listen to at least 5 other podcasts, but enjoy RebelFM more than any other. It’s mostly to do with the chemistry between you three. I really enjoyed the vibe in this last podcast, and if you guys need to go off-topic from time to time please feel free. I find it hilarious. It would be a shame if you guys started to stop enjoying what you do because you are trying to conform to an outline. If people want a paint by numbers podcast they are out there.
Yeah, my favorite episode was the one where they went WAAAAAAAYYY off topic and Anthony was telling all these insane gamerelated stories. I love it when I can relate to the people I listen to. I also love it when someone is so proud to be a nerd that he wants a tattoo of chewbacca on his body with his penis in the middle.

If you liked Nobunaga’s Ambition, definitely check out some of the new Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. The modern games have been released in two forms: IX and XI are God view strategy games like the old ones, and VIII and X are RPG/strategy games, where you control a single officer, can manage your character’s family, duel, and change your loyalty dynamically. All of the games are available on PS2, and XI is also on the PC.

Hey guys another great show. Towards the end you were talking about mulit-lingual games and voice talent. Call of Jaurez: BiB seems to have done just that. I beat it over the weekend with a friend and during the 10+ minute long credits there are multiple voice talents listed for various languages. I wasn’t paying much attention to the names, but it seemed like they hired different actors for the various languages represented.
Just thought you’d like to know. That game is pretty awesome btw. The opening couple levels in particular were a refreshing change of pace for the FPS genre. Some of the reviews I’ve read downplay the graphics which is puzzling to me. I found them to be utterly fantastic. It also plays in 1080p on the PS3 if you have an appropriate display…
P.S – Tyler can borrow my copy of Dead Space provided he has a PS3 and promises to return it in the mint condition that I like to keep my game collection in.
Actually, most xbox360 games are multi-lingual to some extent. It all depends on the region setting that the system is set up with. You can change the region settings under the settings menu, and, viola, new language.
Another great episode guys. I love all the off the wall banter you guys do. It makes the show feel more personable and easy to listen to. It doesn’t feel like its scripted like other podcasts are. Tyler is so random and crazy that it compliments the show well.
I made the mistake of listening to Rebel FM with my family, (wife and 9 month old daughter), in the car on a road trip home this weekend. Needless to say, with a genital or genital mutilation reference about every 5 minutes, the podcast didn’t stay on long. Not at all.
Thankfully my daughter was asleep. I’d say something like ‘clean up your act’, but that’s shit, y’know? You guys are all fat penis all the time. And that’s good. My dumb-ass fault for thinking I could listen to you in front of the fam.

Dreams about video games is a normal occurrence for myself; PlantsVsZombies has been keeping me up at night this week. However it has also happened with BF2, Starcraft, and CivIV….. Yet I never have had a dream about video game netcast hosts….

Oh man! I just returned to my home from Vietnam, so I’ve been chilling and trying to get back to normal from jetlag. I turned on my computer yesterday and my itunes downloaded this episode. I just started listening this morning and I just got to the part about penis tricks.
Let me just say, this is why I listen to this podcast. It isn’t that I have some undying affection for male genitalia, although I do think it is downright hilarious. The reason I love it is because this is exactly what chilling with my boys is like. In fact, when Tyler (I think it was Tyler) talked about pulling his sack over his penis, I laughed out loud. That is my favorite junk trick, other than the FLOOD! (this is where you tuck your penis in between your legs and leave your balls chilling on your legs like the flood from halo). I’m also known for my large balls and saggy sack.

I was away travelling for about a month and am playing “catch-up” with podcasts. It looks like things are finalized with the shirts…and although I have enjoyed the look and feel of American Apparel clothing…I recommend watching the documentary “No Sweat” for a more exacting look into “Sweat-Shop Free.” It’s a very nuanced advertisement slogan to say the least…
