No Rebel FM this week.

Sorry guys. As Anthony is working on three previews right this second that have to be done in 12 hours and I have a whiteboard next to me with approximately 32 previews to be written in the next 7 days, there will not be a Rebel FM this week. I apologize for the late notice; we were trying to make this happen, but this time things just fell through for us. I’ll try to wrangle up a show next week though, hopefully with some fun guests.

  1. SJS says:

Damn, was hoping for an E3 predictions middle-segment. =(

  2. Big Pick Zel says:

    RAGE!

  3. Jeremy W. says:

32 previews? Damn. One the plus side, it seems statistically likely at least one of those games has to be worth looking forward to.

  4. Rich says:

    CUNTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to hear letter’s you let me down guys

  5. Saad Khalid says:

That’s a shame, but good luck with your previews guys, sounds like you got it rough =p.

  6. Wreckless_4485 says:

When something like this happens you guys should have something for us to comment about, perhaps related to E3, like with predictions or whatever. We want to contribute!

  7. crowbar_gazoolies says:

Too bad, guys. Still, with 32 games there HAS to be at least one decent one, right?

Shame about the heavy workload this time around ¬.¬

  8. Starscream says:

This makes me a sad panda but totally understandable, look forward to a great show next week.

  9. Jose says:

Good luck with all the work guys. Remember to take regular breaks to eat and watch World Cup.

  10. BBCorewen says:

My ears will miss you but looks like this will be an investment of sorts for future episodes…looking forward to next week ^_^

  11. Kevin says:

Damn… I was hoping with all the recent Company of Heroes Online hub-bub that we could see some more CoH talk from Anthony.

  12. You should just record your brainstorming how to write a quasi-positive or neutral preview of a kind of crappy looking game. “I could talk about how it’s not entirely terrible looking. Or how it’s sort of like Gears of War, and that was a game people liked, right?”

  13. Benjamin I. says:

    USELESS DICKS!!

We understand, Arthur. Everybody gets backed up at work sometime in the year.

  14. Chris says:

No worries gang. I’m sure we all look forward to the make-up show next week.

  15. WayneR says:

Can’t say I was expecting a podcast this week. It would have been fun if you guys just set up a mic in the apartment/office and recorded the chaos that ensues.

  16. koofle says:

Aww, take care and stay alive so that we get to have a show next week.

  17. CodyH says:

No biggie. At least I’ll have Chuck to keep me company since I’ve been going through the first two seasons the past few days.

  18. sdf says:

If I had a nickel for every whiny-ass games writer’s musings about how much work they had to do for E3, I could plug Limbaugh’s racist mouth, not to mention the Gulf of Mexico.

  19. AlphaNerd says:

Aw, nuts! I actually had expected no Rebel FM next week. But good luck with that crazy workload. I guess it’s good practice for next week. Hope to see you all at E3!

  20. Dontlooknow says:

It’s ok we still love you guys and the show don’t over work yourselves.

  21. Anand says:

Ok, you’re all forgiven but here is the blueprint for next show

2 hours of talk about the best games of E3
    15 minutes of relationshipletters
    15 minutes of religionletters
    15 minutes of penisjoke-letters
    5 minutes of Anthony singing

    Extralongcast!

    Thank you.

  22. (a different) Marty says:

[uncontrollable sobbing, mixed with incoherent blubbering]

  23. Iceveiled says:

I guess my penis will have to remain flaccid tomorrow.

  24. Iceveiled says:

Robert Ashley AND Scott Bromley next time or BOYCOTT!!!!

  25. puck2dag says:

shit sons, take a couple but come back dick in hand and ready to rumble

  26. Jeff says:

Does this mean the return of Scott Bromley? Maybe? Please?

  27. CallMeSarge says:

Ah, no worries – RL gotta come first right?

  28. Gabe says:

    Thanks for posting an explanation.

  29. Ryan says:

i wanna say get some “papa” davidson in on the podcast thatd be awesome

  30. Gert says:

I hate E3. All tease and no play makes Gert a dull boy.
Also last Gamespy Debriefings was a little too dirty, i felt like listening to a bunch of guys watching porn.
    Not hot.

  31. CodyH says:

Okay I think I see what has been going on with my posts over the last week or two. It seems like it now takes a couple days for them to be posted when usually it is automatic.

  32. Xtinction says:

Should I re-send my letter or is there a chance it will still be read during the next episode?

<– Sad & happy, sad that there's no rebelFM and happy because not having something sometimes makes you realise how much you love it :)

  33. Niko Saariniemi says:

I understand, everybody has much to do before E3 just put together a longer show after E3 when everything calm down.

  34. Bakamanzz says:

    thats keml dudes.

  35. PanzerDSS says:

No RebelFM makes me sad. But I guess actually do have to get PAID every once in a while.

  36. SpankyMcJedi says:

    Testicles. Eagerly awaiting next week.

  37. Valdimar says:

    Oh noes! Sad face :(

Oh well. Good luck with all that work.

  38. Wolfen Vic says:

When you do do an episode please oh please talk about the Star Wars Kinect game. That sounds so up your guys ally and just sounds so damn cool. I’d also like to throw up the idea of brainstorming other series that could have games that work with with Kinect. Like Bioshock.

Yeah I know I’m going to be the only one to mention Bioshock, I just come off a high from Finishing both 1 and 2 only weeks between them. Have to say I some how want a Bioshock 3 now.

  39. Onegun says:

I just listened to the episode where Chuff started playing Mass Effect 2 and the discussion lead to space sluts and STD’s. If you talk to Mordin often enough after doing his loyalty mission he will mention that he is dealing with an outbreak of “scale-itch” on the normandy. The odd thing he says is that the disease is normally only found in verrin(those dog like things.) So I guess Tylers idea of free love in the galaxy doesn’t apply when you fuck an alien dog.

  40. Chris (WickedCobra03) says:

Sorry to hear, but probably not much to talk about if recorded on Thursday or whatever. I really want to know what you guys think of the who Natal/Kenict, and the atrocity that is the Italian rumored Xbox 360 Slim. They have an ugly, dented Alienware case, all they need are some glowning LED fans on the thing and Microsoft will have come full circle.

  41. ALozano says:

Yea, Post E3 podcast soon. No yelling at Nintendo.

  42. Duz says:

Don’t worry about it. Just make sure we get a big E3 One

  43. Lol McRofles says:

Hey, life happens. Gotta take care of what gets you paid first. I’d rather listen to a podcast you guys had time for anyway than one you forced out to keep the masses happy.

  44. Luke P says:

Yeah, way to bring home the bacon, boys. Work before play; I know how it is.

  45. Anonymous says:

Arthur if you want the podcast to do better, it’s crucial to put up an E3 podcast. Nobody wants to hear a measly 1 hour podcast when you return highlighting stuff rapidly (for the love of God, please limit Ass Creed Brotherhood talk to les than ten seconds). Skype a podcast if you have to, just remember key media events like this are even sweeter when you do them daily, like 1up Yours used to do.

  46. Sailesh says:

Special guests eh? Best be, or or or… you know. Grrr!!

  47. Sailesh says:

By the by, you guys are awesome :”)

  48. Jace101 says:

Good luck with that heavy ass load of work.

  49. Gert says:

    E3 2010 HOT LIST
Brink is on the top of my to watch list. It reminds me of Timesplitters 2, mostly due to artwork.
Dead Space 2 is second. I hope it’ll be as dark and tense as Dead Space 1.

And lastly Rage is looking great. The animation is one thing i’ve been wondering how they pull it off. Enemies get hit and they react to it and come back at you. That was a feature that some people said only could be done using DX10. PS3 and XBOX360 are a little above DX9 but nowhere near DX10.

I guess it’s using smoke and mirrors in a smart way.

Sadly the only japanese game i liked was Child of Eden. All the other stuff makes the japanese developers look like they’ve been stuck in 1995.

  50. Anand says:

Ow man, there are so much games you guys can talk about…

    Personal top 5;

    1. Rage: Because it’s like Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 and Borderlands all slapped together into an awesome mix.

    2. Vanquish : Because it’s different and so cool that it becomes almost silly. Example; The character lights up a cigarette when he’s behind cover for longer than 3 seconds (seen it on Gametrailers demo). At least one of you guys needs to talk about it…

    3. Dead Space 2 : No comment needed.

    4. Twisted Metal : I was in love with Twisted Metal Black, now it’s back in HD and with Online. I mean, can it get any better? It also still has split screen play so that’s fun.

    5. Red Faction Armageddon: It’s pretty low on my list because I haven’t seen the hammer yet… Has anyone seen the hammer?

    • Wreckless_4485 says:

Twisted Metal Black is hands down one of my favorite games of all time. Twisted Metal for the PS3 is easily one of my most anticipated games of early 2011.

      • Iceveiled says:

Did anybody else call bullshit when Jaffe flat out denied Twisted Metal was the game he was working on? Then he shows up at E3 and….Twisted Metal. Wow, David Jaffe as a bullshitter? UTTER SHOCK!!!

Too bad the TRUE shock of E3 was Gabe Newell on stage at Sony’s press conference.

    • Gert says:

Or maybe some impressions of the new Medal Of Honor.
It looks much more like the stuff you see on tv about Afghanistan. I hope they do include civillian escort missions, and just some life in general. War countries in videogames are allways stripped of the civillians and the culture.

If they go for reaslism they should go all the way. Or at least dare to portray the foul and grim picture of that war.

  51. Sailesh says:

    One word; Kinectimals.

  52. Iceveiled says:

One word, cute gimmicky “game” that presents well at a press event, but will only actually be fun to play for five minutes.

  53. Jacob says:

    #fuckleighalexander

  54. easymac says:

    Hey everyone,

Tilt to Live is free on iTunes today. I heard about it on Rfm from Matt, and I think it is a pretty sweet game.

    http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/tilt-to-live/id335454448?mt=8

  55. Jambi86 says:

Hey Arthur are you reviewing Transformers? If so whens it gonna be up?

  56. Eli says:

Can we get a Robert Ashley episode?

  57. IcarusII says:

Ryan Scott was able to put out a Geekbox episode during E3 week with freaking Jeff Green. Don’t tell me you guys are going to lose to the aidsbox. Well, you guys already lost, technically since you haven’t put one up in two weeks. Come on.

Did one of you die last week? Weak.

  58. BusyZombieLord says:

Sorry you guys are so busy. Hope you get a new show up soon.

  59. DualAnalog says:

Kinda crappy we havent gotten a show in 2 weeks. Other gaming podcasts have given day to day podcasts for E3, or at the very least a post-e3 podcast (Its been a week, come on!). Oh well, now I will be looking forward to the Bombcast everyweek. Sorry Rebel FM, one less listener here.

    • Ben says:

You do realize that the RebelFM podcast is not part of their 9-5 jobs, right? Other podcasts are able to record because they’re getting paid to do it as part of their employment. These dudes have to find (or make) spare time to produce each show. C’mon now, you can’t compare bananas to kiwis. :)

      • BusyZombieLord says:

He just wants to hear his sad pathetic relationship letter read so he can justify his existence.

        • Anonymous says:

Guy makes a valid point and you make a shit joke. Maybe if you weren’t so busy zombie lord, you’d have read the post.

          • BusyZombieLord says:

I apologize to Ben if he thinks that was directed at him. I just get tired of people that don’t appreciate the free content supplied to them every week. Comments like DualAnalogs must make them giving us a new podcast a donning task. I don’t mean to seem I was a troll, I just lost my shit.

        • DualAnalog says:

Wow, mature guys ::thumbs up:: Yes, I realize it isn’t there “9-5 jobs”, but if you are doing a gaming podcast on a somewhat consistent basis, why not have one for 2 weeks around the industry’s most exciting time? Especially when you have gone out and assembled a loyal fan base.

          • Ben says:

Because, as was stated before, they simply haven’t had time. It takes a lot more time/effort beyond the couple hours you actually hear. I’m sure they’d love to record/produce at leisure, if they could. It’s a great show and it’s a bummer to hear them being badmouthed because of extenuating circumstances.

          • Ravyn says:

Mmmmaybe because their 9-5 jobs happen to be writing about the video game industry, and what is the industry’s most exciting two weeks for you and me is their most busy time of the year. I would love to hear these guys’ input on E3 stuff too and I’m excited to, but I acknowledge that their jobs are busier than they ever are right now, and unlike most podcasts, the podcasting isn’t part of their jobs so they simply don’t have time right now. Stop listening if you want, but what do you want for free?

      • wonkers says:

Well, Ryan Scott was able to put out a Geekbox episode last week, and that podcast isn’t associated with any gaming website or publication. He even got Jeff Green and Dana Jungerwhatever on it.

Come on. For a group who’ve called the Geekbox the ‘aidscast’, they sure act like they’ve died. At least Geekbox had an e3 podcast. Come on Anthony, Arther, Tyler…

My previous comment here wasn’t uploaded. Someone’s got it out for me.

  60. Mike B says:

I expect make up cock sucking next week.

  61. KALU says:

    PLANETSIDE 2 ?????????????????????????

  62. spankbot says:

Good luck in getting your work done guys!

  63. Anand says:

Tyler Barber on the Sanctuary 4 Gamers podcast!

  64. SpoonSix says:

Would they have been able to talk around E3? Damned if they did and damned if they didn’t, I reckon.

  65. Ryan says:

OR their recording equipment went to hell. also neone else’s itunes say the gamespy debriefings isnt working?

  66. Gert says:

Arthur and Anthony, you need to start selling me on why i should go to IGN. So far it just looks like a Gamespot corrupt company with all it’s foul and dark secrets.

I just found this http://video.ign.com/dor/articles/913047/ign-babeology/videos/Babeology_melissa_062210.html piece a shit. It’s what the GFW guys made fun of for years.

A website with whitened teeth bimbos here and there doesn’t get my respect. The website seems to aim for 14 year olds.
So if you give a great game game a fantastic score, you should not be suprised trollers show up screaming “WHY SO LOW?”

However you guys (Ryan Scott, Arhtur, Anthony) are there so that brings some credibility. I know(hope) Ryan Scott doesn’t form his opnions to fit those of PR or management.
He’s the one guy i still trust.

    Aint that sad?

    • EvilGenius says:

Well it looks like Arthur and Anthony are bringing some credibility to the reviews. They write shorter and less hyperbole filled reviews, and seems to use a 10 point scale instead of the bullshit 100 point scale.

    • Anand says:

I don’t think anyone has been forming their opinions to IGN’s image/pr/marketing. I would love to hear why you think otherwise.

As for me, I think the gamespot-scandal with Jeff Gerstman is still fresh in everyone’s head, IGN should know better. Everyone would jump all over it.

Furthermore, I think IGN is just another BIG GAMING WEBSITE. You can expect shit like this and I expect it to get even worse. It’s the old saying ”Sex sells”. It’s true, sex sells, up to a point. The fact that IGN does this is (to me) a desperate struggle to get more page-views. And I hope they get them. Because I hope that Anthony, Arthur and Ryan keep their jobs. Never forget that gaming journalism has had some serious troubles in the last years. Nobody wants another sellout-fiasco like what happened with 1UP.

    • (a different) Marty says:

If you like Ryan, Arthur and Anthony’s work I don’t see the problem in just reading their work, and ignoring the rest of the site. They work for IGN because until they get jobs in development like every other decent games writer* they gotta pay rent.

Also, you might think it’s below them to work at IGN, but they’ve stated that they devoted a couple of years of their lives working towards the goal of writing for enthusiast press. It doesn’t get any bigger than IGN, dude! That’s a major success in my book.

      *C’mon guys, y’know it’s going to happen eventually ;)

      • Gert says:

I just hope that Arthur, Anthony and Ryan wil keep it real :-) .
Sometimes difficult to see the wires attached.

@(a different) Marty: “until they get jobs in development”
It’s sad everyone think that way about enthusiast press.

Tell you what. If i become a billionaire i will hire the old GFW crew + Arthur and some other guys i trust and give them a high paying job and total creative freedom.

        • Mike B says:

I’m not big into reading reviews, in this day and age we should leave that to research papers and technical essays. If I am going to take away time from playing games, I want it to be as relaxing or fun as playing games. I think they should link to their work from this website. Sure its self promotion but hey im here because I want to hear their opinions because I tend to share them(when it comes to video games anyways). I think some people want to keep the written form alive because their professors have brainwashed them into thinking that writing is important, or they had a dream when they were young of becoming a written journalist, either way in written news is not very relevant. The same content can be given verbally or visually and if you consider how people learn it makes sense that its more popular then reading. Don’t tell me how awesome the guns sound, show me.

    • Mike B says:

Don’t act like they are the only ones who do shit like this, remember on 1up how for weeks we would only get “top 10 games that you wish were never made” or “top 10 gaming snacks” and they wern’t even serious lists it was just a place for them to put cheezy ass pale humor. Look at G4, where they now only have 1 30 minnute show about gaming and everything else is just cops or some shit with babes or about booth babes but not about games.

  67. Anand says:

    Also:
Who the fuck Digged this post? :D

”No Rebel FM this week.” -> 4 Diggs.

Rofl :D just thought this was funny/interesting.

  68. allegate says:

Ryan: Yeah, iTunes hasn’t liked the feed for about a 1.5 weeks now. Weird.

I just watched Frisky Dingo and Anthony looks just like the gay nerd LARPer Bilbo T. Baggins. Go ahead, GIS the name.

  69. DJJoeJoe says:

Ah, I miss the podcast a lot. Look forward to whenever the next episode airs.

  70. Iceveiled says:

I’m guessing a new episode will be up tomorrow (saturday). I think a new design for ESG is in the works as well (thank fuck).

Robert Ashley’s latest ‘A life well wasted’ went up yesterday as well, so give it a listen. I don’t have to tell you it was amazing. Production quality on his shows are ridiculous.

  71. Dr. Reducto says:

    This podcast should be renamed;
