You really had to put up the episode just when the World Cup Final is about to start.

    • Jose says:

Haha, and you know it’s not going to be over in less than an hour, which will run into kickoff time.

      VIVA ETHPANYA!

      • CodyH says:

SPAIN WINS!!! SPAIN WINS!!! SPAIN WINS!!!

        • Jose says:

That Iker Casillas sure is dreamy. Props to tiny little Catalunia as well, they made up more than half of Spain’s starting lineup. Cannot wait for La Liga to kick off. I predict Barca with Villa will be too much for Madrid again. And Murinho can eat a fat one.

          • CodyH says:

lol, everyone I know (man and woman) thinks Spain has the best looking team.

Plus what did you think of that kick to the chest that de Jong did? Outside of the hardcore Dutch fans everyone else here was shocked he didn’t get a red.

Plus I saw Müller getting the Golden Boot but I’m shocked Forlan didn’t get the silver or Bronze.

            • Iceveiled says:

OMG 1-0 after over 100 minutes of soccer. Such an exciting sport!! Well congrats to Spain. Now they can take a break from soccer and go back to being arrogant.

            • CodyH says:

Now today I noticed that Forlan got the Golden Ball so I’m happy now.

              • Jose says:

Meuller should have gotten both the Golden Ball as well as the young player of the tournament, as he had 5 goals and 3 tie-breaking assists. Forlan was a beast though.

And that De Jong Hulk kick pretty much sums up Nigel De Jong as a player, as the Luis Suarez handball pretty much sums him up: Nigel the brute, Suarez the cheat.

              • Jose says:

Oh, my mistake, Mueller did get the two awards for which he was nominated: the Golden Boot, and Best Young Player. Too bad oezil was too old by a few months and thus ineligible for young player.

    • Anand says:

The dutch played dirty as hell. Look at this shit! A FUCKING KUNG FU KICK!

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CekIw5moE5c

      That aint no soccer!

      • CodyH says:

It was a dirty game all around. Yeah the Dutch were slightly worse but hey it wasn’t the prettiest game but the bets team one.

        • Anand says:

At first I was rooting for the dutch because my teacher is dutch but after a while I came to symphatize with the Spanish more… They had very good defense and they had a lot of good combinations. Not to mention that they have one helluva keeper!

Yeah, soccer, I don’t watch it that much (only UEFA finals and World Championship) but it’s a very entertaining sport.

        • Jose says:

Disagree, Spain only had a few dirty plays, and only as a response to Dutch play. The simple fact is that the Netherlands could have finished with 8 or 9 players, but instead finished with 10, because of the English referee who works with nothing but brutes in the EPL. In the EPL, if you aren’t good, you foul, and Chelsea is good at fouling.

  2. Lucas says:

    Fuck yeah pinback.

  3. WayneR says:

Random coincidence that I checked the page as soon as this went up. Thanks for posting it early. My Sunday morning felt empty without Rebel FM during breakfast.

I can’t wait to hear about what you looted during the rioting. Cause c’mon, everybody has to do a little bit of rioting (although it seemed like mostly looting from the stories I am hearing).

  4. Iceveiled says:

    Direct download link not working…

  5. Sma11wood says:

Fantastic, I’ve been checking and rechecking the site for a few days now, need my fix. Thanks as always for the hard work guys.

  6. thevamp25 says:

    FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

  7. IUMogg says:

Singularity is the Darksiders of FPS’s. Completely derivative, but well made and extremely fun. It sounds like Arthur hasn’t played much so I’m curious to see if he warms up to it. He is right in that the game does itself a disservice in how it starts off slow and doesn’t put its best foot forward. But it’s a solid shooter with fun powers to play around with. You can get it this week at KMart for $35 and it’s well worth it.

I think Rebel FM should bring back game club and play the original Golden Sun.

Also, I’m not a troll! I said some nice stuff in my letter, but Anthony skipped over it. However, Dead Space is overrated.

  8. dude says:

Star Wars Galactic warfare a CoD 4 Total conversion mod on PC.

  9. Guillermo says:

did Matt say Anya? TimeSplitters reference FTW!

  10. Kahitri says:

I have the soundboard and soon to be disappearing friends… Sweet :¬P

  11. Chris Wilson says:

I haven’t played this Crackdown game, but from everything I hear, it sounds like the strangest PacMan port ever.

  12. Courtney says:

    Fuck the police! JK

  13. diego macias says:

Many thanks for correcting the direct option. Crisis averted.

  14. rice* says:

i just wanted to say the JEW song you put in the break made me really happy =)

    • TightHeadProp says:

The real fun (IMO) comes from the other dungeons after Table Mountain. Do yourself a favor and find the Shiren wetpaint wiki, it’s amazing. Also use the gamefaqs community for rescues if needed. If you already knew this, forgive my ignorance. I just love this game and enjoy seeing people get into it.

      • TightHeadProp says:

Ignore this, I replied to the wrong post.

        • CodyH says:

But really when you think of you responding that way to a JEW songs makes it even better.

Also Bleed American is good but I’d rather have Sweetness or anything from Clarity.

          • rice* says:

yea same here, but it was just great to hear one of my favorite bands on one of my favorite podcast. it kind of took me by surprise.

  15. Romaen says:

Heh, Shiren the Wanderer. I just started playing that myself. I’ve been playing over 8 hours and on my best run I only got to dungeon level 18 of 30. It’s a pretty unforgiving dungeon crawler where you start over at level 1 every time you die but the items in your storehouses and any quests you’ve finished stay which give you more and more advantages for your next runs. It probably sounds kind of weird but it’s really fun.

    • TightHeadProp says:

      • Romaen says:

No I didn’t, I actually didn’t even get a manual when I got it so I’ve been just figuring everything out on my own and gave up on any hope of getting a rescue because I can’t get my DS to work on my wireless connection. I’ll look for that wiki site though, thanks for the tips.

  16. Carl Nelson says:

I’m happy that everything is back to normal after last week’s debacle. Thumbs up guys!

  17. Stealthbearpig says:

This isn’t an underapperciated game it’s a game I couldn’t like but I wanted to very badly dead space but couldn’t why

  18. Armando says:

    YEEEAAAAH!

Greetings from Madrid, Spain, where the final goal and the celebration afterwards was celebrated like nowhere else!

And now, to enjoy my hangover with some RFM.

  19. Mashehu says:

Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell everyone (specially Arthur, who talked about it this podcast and I think in the podcast before), that it is still possible to get into Battlefield Bad Company 2 Multiplayer, and if you have any interest in Multiplayer-Action-Games you have to at least try it! I started the game four days ago and although I am usually the one with the lowest rank (at the moment it’s 8), I still get to be in the upper half of the end score. I consider myself as an average skilled player and this is, with the exception of some Battlefield 1942 action back in the days on PC, my first Battlefield and I absolutely love it.

PS: Since Anthony mentioned Carcassonne in the Podcast and I don’t know if he has an iPhone, but at least Matt has to try the iPhone version of it. It’s got one of the most beautiful designs I think I ever saw on an iPhone and the variety of playing it Multiplayer is just awesome.

    • Anand says:

What’s your strategy? I always get devastated by the helicopters and tanks that are WAAAY out of my range. Turrets are always destroyed in the first 5 minutes of the game… It’s like the helicopterpilots first take care of the turrets before handling the rest… It’s fucking annoying.

  20. Sean says:

    dear god.

for the love of everything holy, please let this be the last episode where you guys talk about fucking Transformers.

also, great music choices this week.

  21. mujun says:

I loved the way you guys laughed at my taste in games (divinity II, Mini Ninjas, etc) but then went on to champion Dark Sector.

I’ll take your opinions with a grain of salt from now on:)

    • FluxWaveZ says:

I was seriously thinking the same thing when I heard that. One moment they’re all attacking Singularity when none of them have played it except for Arthur who barely even played it for an hour as he didn’t even obtain the TMD, the main game mechanic of the game, and then they start to talk about how awesome Dark Sector was. Dark Sector, seriously.

  22. Jose says:

I know I’m woefully late to the party, but I got Dirt 2 for free with my 5870, and I played the eff out of that game. It might have been its gorgeous presentation, excellent soundtrack, and general freeness that kept me hooked up until the very touching tribute to Colin McRae upon beating his memorial tournament.

I must put in this disclaimer: I am not that into racing games, as my only real foray into the genre was with Burnout Paradise which I also loved.

  23. CallMeSarge says:

    Great cast again gents

  24. max says:

hey sup guys. i always forget to write down the name of the cologne from whole foods and its a pain in the ass to find it when the podcast is 2 hrs long. does anyone remember the name of the the cologne that tyler uses? the name would be much appreciated. thanks!

  25. Sworen says:

I was honestly surprised how hard Arthur was trashing Singularity. It was weird how there was appreciation for wolfenstein, and yet the guns were attacked despite a similar feel. Perhaps part of the problem was his mindset going into the game, expecting a really serious affair.

There is a tone of trying to be Bioshock at the start certainly, but Singularity shows different tones that put it in it’s own place. For example, I almost get a Red Alert vibe in the art design and story of the game. Singularity feels like the culmination of different game ideas mixed into one, not unlike Darksiders.

  26. Courtney says:

@Matt. Bit.trip games are hard core games in a casual package. What I mean is, those games are hard as hell.

  27. kfizz says:

Yeah I always was thinking that crackdown did not really feel good to play. My friend said why are you not shooting and i was like its all about the orbs.

  28. Dr. Reducto says:

Rebel fm: “we don’t record when real rebellious ‘ish is going down”

this podcast repeats the same topic with a new title.

    “what game this year…”
    “what game of last year…”
    “what game of this gen…”
    “what game of last gen…”
    “last years overlooked game…”
“games you are looking forward to…”
    “underrated games of last year/gen…”

    the list grows with every podcast. and the formula of the conversation goes a little something…like..this;

Person A: “I like this game”
    Person B: “No.”
    Person A: “It was fun”
    Person C: “Yeah!”
    Person B: “Reason 1: Mechanics”
    Person B: “Reason 2: Sales”
    Person A: “But-”
Person B: “Reason 3: Other games doing it better”
    Person A: (silent)

you should change the URL from “eat-sleep-game” to “wash-rinse-repeat”

  29. Bernoulli says:

    Singularity rules

  30. Vasectomy says:

those that got that Nemat cologne what does it say on the bottle? i got mine today and all it says is amber, not amber white. the bottle looks the way he described though, gold top.

  31. teo says:

Whyyyy is Arthur always hating on R6 Vegas 2?
Expansion pack disguised as a full game? Yes, but that’s a business problem not a problem with the game. Didn’t resolve story from the first game? No, but it’s a shit story anyway so who cares, and it’s another thing that doesn’t matter when you view the game on its own.

I like the 2nd one way way more, the levels are better and guess what :O, you can sprint. I don’t care which one anyone else prefers but I do think it’s silly to propse that the 2nd one is a hugely inferior game, especially if you view it on its own and not in the context of its release (because how does that matter if you play it today?)

    • Anand says:

Yes, the sprintbutton makes it a lot better… Also, the new weapons are cool to use. And if I’m not mistaken, terrorist hunt is made easier. I remember a lot of cursing in R6vegas1 but a lot less in R6vegas2.

But overall I enjoyed R6vegas1 better because it was new.

  32. ClutchMidgetRectum says:

    Arthur;”It has textures like a ps3 game”

Oh god, that must be awful. Can’t be worse than Uncharted 2 though right? That game had the smudgiest piece of shit textures I’ve ever seen. It was like I was playing a launch ps2game done by a hack dev from Fuckvillestan, Albania. Come to think of it, all ps3 games have shitty textures compared to the Xbox 360. You are right, Mr Gies.

Must be because of that technical theoretical reason that proves ps3 can’t theoretically do good textures in games because of the technical achitecture mumbojumbo. Now que the playstation 3 players who will come and claim that ps3 games can have nice textures and disprove the technical theoretical reasons by showing us actual screenshots where textures look GOOD. Those silly gooses.

    • Aegies says:

Good PS3 developers work around its video memory limitations. Naughty Dog and Guerilla are examples of this. Third party developers tend to just lower their texture resolution and level of detail to get performance up in middleware like UE3.

      • Surkov says:

While it may be true that the PS3 has less video memory, the real world repercussions of this disparity aren’t as large as you tend to make them out to be.

The statement of “textures like a PS3 game” is stupid, and frankly unprofessional (not there’s anything professional about this podcast, lol).

If it wasn’t for sites like Digital Foundry counting pixels and calculating multi-platform framerates to the hundredths of a frame, the majority hardcore gamers wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

With the rare exceptions like Assassin’s Creed 2, multi-platform games look identical.

So what I’m trying to say is, don’t mention this shit on the podcast. Your only turning more listeners off while looking like a charlatan in the process.

    • Eiskalt says:

      Fucking Sub-HD textures… Fucking Consoles…

  33. Courtney says:

The part about Matt living in poverty really bothered me. I have been through some hard times, it just doesn’t make sense for people who are so talented to be broke. I just made another donation to Area 5, and I will try to make more donations in the future.

  34. H.R. Shovenstuff says:

I like how you asshats scoffed at Demon’s Souls, as if it’s nothing to so much as discuss in even minor detail, despite the fact that it has a 91 and earned GameSpot’s game of the year. Not that either of those qualifications are worth a piss, but my god, did any of you actually play it at length? It’s one thing to not discuss it because you never actually gave it a shot, but you guys actually had audible disposition in your voices as soon as it was mentioned. I know Matt didn’t play it, all you have to do is watch the Co-Op episode featuring it to gather that much.

And is it really so much to ask that you don’t demean your fans for having separate tastes than you? If they write in and are abrasive about it, like the guy whining about Golden Sun and Singularity, but keep in mind that you guys asked us for the under appreciated games we like, and for half of them, you just spit on them for, what? being under appreciated? Holy shit, some guy liked the first Ninety Nine Nights, WHAT AN ASSHOLE! If you’re going to ask listeners for input and opinions, don’t be dick heads when they give them to you. And no, I did not write in with any of my own gems. You guys were just real pricks this episode.

    • H.R. Shovenstuff says:

      89* on metacritic, not 91

    • Anand says:

If there was anyone on RebelFM that played it at length then they would’ve talked about it at length. But to be honest, after playing it myself (without a guide), i must say that I understand why it receives the hate. Without a guide you can forget about it, games like that shouldn’t exist anymore in my opinion. They should’ve at least put a good tutorial or hint-button or whatever in it.

    • ClutchMidgetRectum says:

Listen, friend. There are many reasons to why one should listen to RebelFM. It is a great podcast and all of the people on it are truly awesome. But if you wanna listen to some guys having a good discussion about Demon’s Souls, these are not the droids you’re looking for.

I mean, what DID you expect? Demon’s Souls has everything going against it when it comes to this podcast. It is not only japanese, it is also a ps3 exclusive and an actual challenging game. Oh, and the sheer existence of it, the mechanics and the grand praise it has recieved from sites such like IGN, Kotaku and Gamespot would crush their whole “japan makes shitty games” rants that they love to go on, so better not talk about it at all. The poor thing never had a chance. Even if they brought on a guest who would’ve had a favourable word or two to say about it, Arthur would have shut him/her down with a list of theoretical and technical reasons to why it sucks and make them scared shitless to even bring up such a ridiculous game ever again. Maybe even make them realize that the enjoyment they had while playing it was false.

I remember them talking about it once and referring to it as an “Atlus game”, comparing it to other games “developed by Atlus” and how they knew exactly what to expect because the game has the word “Demon” in it. That should tell you quite a bit about the interest and knowledge these guys ever had when it comes to Demon’s Souls.

      • Sean says:

man, you hit every nail on the head.

i still love to listen to this show, but, it’s best to just zone out whenever one of them (Anthony, not as much) mentions the words:

        Japanese
        Sony
        PS3

    • Jose says:

Arthur loves Ninja Gaiden (Xbox remake) and Matt has pretty varied tastes. Of course Anthony is a philistine, and Tyler the Texan would love to nuke Japan again, but is it really that improbable that four good friends who have gamed with each other for years, professionally in many instances, simply agreed that Demon’s Souls was not for them?

I’ma throw Heavy Rain into the mix so that some people will immediately start dick riding, and others will say that it’s complete shit. Certain games are just divisive, like the Gears and Gods of Wars are much less so.

But it should also be noted that 1/2 of the crew have never played Shadow of the Colossus.

  35. Sean R. says:

    LADYHAWK!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHA!!

  36. Ryan says:

This podcast is going down the shitter. Bring back gameclub!

  37. Rudy the Mad says:

Just started tuning in to the podcast. Thank God for free shit that makes decent listening. Hats off to you fellas. And by, “hats off”, I mean that the condom I flung from my thumb in the dark last night landed on my iPod.

Thanks a lot. You assholes owe me a new iPod.

    :-D

    Rudy

“Tuning in”? Jesus. How fucking old am I, huh?

  38. Rudy the Mad says:

I didn’t know my : – D smiley would turn out looking like it did in the previous post. I take it back.

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your content seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Thanks
