  1. Alex says:

In my opinion Journey easily has the best soundtrack of the year. The Grammy nomination was extremely well-deserved.

  2. Adrian says:

Just looking at the list I can already tell that this must have been a nightmare to edit. Thanks for the hard work Arthur. Does it make me a bad person if I still think that there are some tracks missing from this list that I would have loved to have the Rebel FM Crew talk about? ;-) I hope not.
(Just to quickly mention them: “Fight Club” from AC3 and “Stand Strong Stand Together” from ME3)
It’s been a great year for game music and I thank you again for taking the time to give the music recognition.

  3. Yair says:

    No love for Darksiders 2?

  4. ColinZeal says:

    No Mitch Dyer, thank you!

Except for in the audible thingy. While we´re there, Neuromances is a horribly unreadable book.. Both me and my sis think that. Horrible!

Anyways, keep up the good work!

Very nice choices of music all around. It was nice having Van Ord on as he has shown a love of music, especially on his podcast when he has a guess the music segment pretty much every week. Wow, those Journey songs are good. Hotline Miami is just crazy much like the game, and Fez works great for where you are with each song that plays. It’s too bad Sound Shapes doesn’t have a soundtrack but I understand why. If you don’t hit all of the note buttons you get a different song playing through the rest of the level.

And while on the topic of music, even though it is not video game music, one of the reasons I keep returning to Lego Lord of the Rings and playing around trying to get the collectables is the music. Sometimes you can’t beat just using the actual movie soundtrack.

  6. Frank says:

    Thanks for putting it together!

  7. eot says:

Van Ord actually knew the tuning of a Cello. Colour me surprised.

  8. Jonathan says:

Man o man, Dyad’s soundtrack is at the top of my list this year.

  9. Tyler says:

I love these game music spectacular episodes. Thanks for doing this!

  10. Shawn says:

Not the choices I would have made for Hotline Miami but all the rest are great. So happy to see Botanicula being represented. That game is just so pleasant.

  11. Jeff says:

This continues to be an excellent idea. Thank you for putting this together.

  12. Terese says:

A thoroughly enjoyable episode, thank you so much for the music and slick editing. This inspired me to play Fez (which I am in love with) and next will be Journey. Never miss a show, you guys are fab. Best wishes for the new year.

  13. michael weir says:

Thanks for taking the time to do this Arthur, can’t wait to listen to it in 3….2…..1…..

  14. Brian says:

Thanks for an excellent music episode! I’ve just picked up a 360 and cannot wait to hunker down on some Fez. Bastion as well, which also had a brilliant score apparently. You briefly mentioned chiptunes in the beginning, and if you haven’t already, I think you should check out my friend Mega Beardo. His metal-opera Belmont (based on a playthrough of Castlevania 1) is particularly awesome, in my own humble opinion.

Thanks Rebels, and keep it up!

  15. Just some guy says:

Oh my god, what an awesome show.

It’s episodes like this that make Rebel FM my favorite podcast, Arthur yawning aside :)

I will buy every game featured thanks to this show!

  16. Jonathan says:

Couldn’t agree more with Arthur, when Tears by Health came up in Max Payne 3 with was my musical moment of the year, so freaking awesome. Not only that, but since I died a good chucnk in that part I was retrying the checkpoint over and over and it made me really appreciate the dynamic development they had in the game with that song where it was looping and adding beat and instruments as you were progressing further.
