The first DLC song lists for Rock Band were leaked today. That is kinda ridiculous, don’t you think? I mean, the game hasn’t even come out yet and there is already DLC set up.

But, what worried many when they saw the DLC list, was that it showed bundled songs. It also listed singles, but, early on, it appeared that you had to purchase the bundled songs in groups of three. Thankfully, 1up.com has confirmed with MTV that you can purchase the songs individually or bundled. Suffice it to say that…er…rocks.

Guitar Hero III, on the other hand–which already has DLC out for both PS3 and 360–still only has songs purchasable in 3 packs. Yeah, it sucks. But, what sucks even more is that people are buying it. Bitching only goes so far, it’s the power of the purse that matters.

Though personally I am still in the boycott Rock Band camp–due to their stupid bundle only option–I can appreciate that they aren’t screwing the consumer with the online content. Now, if they would only sell the individual fucking instruments…..

So this weekend, along with Zack and Wiki (a game Chuf will opine on soon, but suffice it to say that if you have a Wii and haven’t bought it, you’re doing yourself a severe disservice), we picked up Guitar Hero 3 on PS2. I will be picking up Rock Band on the 360, so that way we spread out the console love. Anyhow. I had a chance to play the Guitar Hero III demo at a Gamestop recently, which managed to diminish some of my former podcast enthusiasm for the devices. don’t get me wrong, they’re superior to the original guitars for PS2, and even to the Xplorers on the 360, but they aren’t worth an additional 50 dollars. So, with that in mind, my impressions are as follows.

So, I know I kind of went off yesterday about possible changes that Activision and Red Octane may or may not be making to the Guitar Hero controller, but I want to reiterate that it isn’t all bad news. I mentioned that there are many more master tracks this time around (or so it seems thus far), and rather than just let you read my pontifications about what music is good, etc, I figured I’d compile a little content for your listening and viewing pleasure. So there is a rumor on 1up about the possible Fall release of Guitar Hero 3.  It will supposedly be hitting the PS2, PS3, Wii, and xbox 360.  It will not be developed by Harmonix but instead will be made by Neversoft, the company behind such iconic releases as the Tony Hawk franchise.  While this release will be a good thing because it will allow me to rock more, it makes me cry a little inside because it is going to drop during the expensive game season.  I guess the time to start planning the imminent removal of a kidney is now.

Another positive I see in this rumor is that it will be released on PS2.  Not that this is of any real suprise.  They would be cutting out the majority of their audience if they didn’t give it a PS2 release.  It is still one of the top selling games for any console, and the PS2 is stil selling extremely well.

We’ll have to see if this rumor pans out.  Please send ESG a free copy someone?  Anyone?  We will need Fall season hand outs.
