IGN’s GameMetrics has announced their predictions for the year’s best selling games. They have decided that GTA, Halo 3, and Madden 2007 will prove to sell the most units. They believe that these franchises could very well make up over 30% of the total game sales for the second half of the year.
If this proves to be true, then of the proposed 50,000,000 units that will be sold this half of the year, 15,000,000 will be either Halo, Madden, or GTA. This is even more impressive when you consider that they have not even launched yet. Halo 3 alone is expected to garner somewhere around 6,000,000 units sold.
The one question I have amidst these predictions is where is Pokemon? Granted these franchises sell amazingly, but this year we have also had Pokemon Diamond/Pearl as contenders. I would be extremely surprised if one of these games did not make the top 5 (or possibly even take out one of the power houses). Am I alone in this thought?

Amidst his blanket calls for an end to all previews prior to a game’s completion, a demand that will never be met, a demand which is ridiculous and has rightly been ridiculed, and a demand that was apparently forgotten long enough to give one of EGM/1UP’s biggest competitors and exclusive hands on, it’s easy to miss some of the things Dyack had to say that do make sense, and are important.

Many people have complained about the Wii sensor bar having a cord. Or the lack of a charging station for the Wii. I am sure almost all of you have seen the Nyko Wiimote charging station so I will not really mention that. I did however see a picture of the wireless sensor bar that Nyko is making. The sensor bar has a 30 hour battery life. Now since you can recharge your wiimote batteries you can just focus on buying batteries for your wireless sensor bar.
Though this is cool, I just do not understand how it is necessary. I want to see pictures of someone who has a crazy enough set up that they have their Wii beyond the range of the sensor bar cord.
The biggest thing that this makes me wonder about though is why Nintendo is not releasing more first party accessories for the Wii. I mean I know they are already rolling in money but this is clearly a great business opportunity. I personally would rather buy first party accessories in general anyways and I know I am not alone. I just am stuck pondering why Nintendo is not releasing similar products with a little Nintendo logo on them. I know this would help move their accesories and further their bid at world domination.

…But IGN Gear has a pretty excellent interview up with Joone from Digital Playground, who exposed the whole situation in the first place during CES.
