TGS Reveals The Dualshock 3

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

TGS has revealed a plume, a virtual love basket of goodies for the Sony camp. But the most important and most powerful is the reveal of the new Rumbling rumbler, the Dualshock 3 controller. Hands on from sites like Kotaku and Shacknews tell us that the controller does in fact rumble. It is also heavier than the original Sixaxis controller that lacks those rumbling features. Also released were all upcoming games compatible with the new feature and all the previously released games that will new a software update to support it.

Now I know people are all screaming and shouting that the PS3 should have had rumble in the first place, but lets be fair. They were dealing with a lawsuit and thats not easy potatoes. Plus, even though rumble is a very “last gen” feature, not many people made more of a fuss than, “I wish it had it.” Personally, I’m powerfully stoked about this. Rumble was the only thing stopping me from being interested in the system. Hopefully, Sony is hard at working making those software updates so when the controller hits the US in Spring 2008, we’ll be set to go. A list of all the supported and soon to be supported PS3 games after the break.

Rantings About the Rumble-less PS3

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Game Industry.biz tried to pull it out of them, but all Sony gave up was a strong, “No comment”. Where is the rumble? And does anyone care? With the Immersion lawsuit settled, I thought it would be a matter of months before Sony gave us back the controller shaking goodness. And with PS3 Fanboy reporting that Dirt is rumble ready, my head is sore from the scratching. Rumble was noticeably absent from E3, and all the Sony execs are dodging the question like Neo in the Matrix. If Nintendo and the little Will can make rumble and motion-controllers work well together, there is no doubt that Sony can too. And is the lack of rumble causing some gamers to hold off on the PS3 purchasing? Rumble goes all the way back to the PSOne. Are gamers waiting until Sony starts packing rumble in with the hardware? And I heard from some sources that a lot of games, like Resistance: Fall of Man, don’t even have rumble factored into their game code? My finger nails are sore from all the biting. Should we all unite? Take to the streets? Am I the only one who cares?
