Kane & Lynch knows the day upon which it will die.

September 26th, 2007 by Aegies

I guess there’s something to be said for knowing the precise moment where your new franchise will crash upon the rocks, shattering its newborn body upon the shore to bleed out amidst its murderers. I know that this sounds overly maudlin, but if you look up “fucked” in the dictionary you’ll probably find Kane & Lynch. which now has a release date opposite of Mass Effect this November. Oh, and, uh, a few other games you may have heard of:

If that date sounds familiar, it’s because it’s also the specific release date for a few other anticipated games. Microsoft is releasing BioWare’s Mass Effect for the Xbox 360 on November 20, while Sony has Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for the PS3 set to drop the same day. And while Rock Band’s release date isn’t official, GameStop is guaranteeing customers who preorder that it will have the game to them “on the street date of Tuesday, November 20.” And then there’s Assassin’s Creed, Unreal Tournament III, and a number of other titles floating around with vague “November” release windows.

I am a fan of Io Interactive. I love the Hitman series, probably more than is healthy. I’ve gotten some hands on time with the game, and my impressions were pretty positive. I think that released at the right time, it could be a sleeper hit, as it does some cool things narratively and stylistically with a gravitas that hasn’t really be seen in many other games. But it really does seem like Eidos wants Io’s new game to fail. I hope they prove me wrong; the game should be pushed back.

Previews Galore

September 14th, 2007 by Chufmoney

I have been busy as hell lately. On top of my normal work, which is writing guides to games for MyCheats, I have been doing more than my fare share of previews for 1up.com and Modojo.com. I just wanted to share them with you because they are about games I think the readers of our site should know about (especially Kane and Lynch). So, click away!

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (PSP, Wii)

Kane and Lynch (360)

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron Hands-on Multiplayer (PSP)

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron (PSP)

Jam Sessions (DS)

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episodes I (PC, 360, Mac, Linux)

So, as you can see, I have been busy. Lots of meetings, talks, travels to game companies. All in all, it’s been amazing. Either way, just wanted to share, some of these games are looking pretty good.

Live from PAX: Kane & Lynch impressions

August 25th, 2007 by Aegies

It’s Saturday morning and I’m on a bean bag chair in PAX’s handheld lounge, and as a quick note, Sumo bean bag chairs are awesome. Anyway, before the show floor opened to the general public, we had a chance to spend some time with some more games at PAX, some of which we’ll be posting more about later in the weekend and through the week. Right now, what’s heaviest on my mind is Kane & Lynch.

Kane & Lynch: looking progressively more badass.

June 7th, 2007 by Aegies

Io Interactive has seen fit to drop a new trailer for Kane & Lynch today, and it just looks better everytime I see it. Here at eat-sleep-game, there’s been some debate as to the potential for IO interactive’s follow-up to Hitman: Blood Money (which happens to be one of my favorite games of last year, actually), Kane & Lynch. As a big fan of the Hitman games, especially of the story driven direction they’ve been going, Kane & Lynch seems like a big, but natural step forward for them.
