I think Jay-Z said it best. Mo’ Money. Mo’ Problems. Didn’t Jay-Z say that? I don’t keep up with you kids. From Nextgen:
Nintendo sold 981,000 Wii units in the US during November according to the NPD Group, but according to James Lin, senior analyst at the MDB Capital Group in Santa Monica, Calif., “they could easily sell double what they’re selling.” Along with other industry analysts and retailers, Lin believes Nintendo could be set to lose out on more than $1billion this holiday, not including missed revenue opportunities from associated software sales that won’t materialize.
Man. That sucks for Nintendo. They could be taking over the world, but because they can’t make enough systems (wink, wink) they won’t make nearly as much money as they could be. So sad! Hang on. Where’s my tissue? For all you people looking for a Wii, head to Bestbuy and grab the one I won’t be buying. Its waiting on you.

So Nintendo launched yet another Wii channel last night, and it offers yet another 5-10 minutes of stimulating entertainment. The basic structure for the channel offers various polls to gauge the opinions of its players on such important subject matter as “What is a better Valentine’s gift: Chocolates or Roses?”, and “I’d rather live in a house on . . . A mountain, or the beach?” This stimulating political banter is only exceeded in its uselessness by the tedium in actually voting for one of these polls. Check out the video here to see what I mean:
As you can see, it takes several minutes to plow through all of the prompts before the player actually gets a chance to vote on anything, and even then, it asks you to basically vote twice on the same subject: Once for your opinion, and another for your prediction on the opinion of others. And the loading time for each session is enough to effectively deter me from ever bothering with the channel again.
That is, of course, unless the channel actually begins to poll for pertinent information. Yet truthfully, even then, I don’t think I would personally have the patience to bother keeping up with the polls. What about the rest of you? Do you think some of the Wii channels are useless, or do you think that they are fun distractions once you’re bored looking for the 60 poe souls in Zelda?
